Located in Mount Uniacke, NS, CMA Building Systems is perfectly situated to service all areas of Nova Scotia and to employ talented individuals from Hants County and surrounding areas. With a state-of-the-art plant facility housing cutting edge equipment and technology, we offer a challenging and rewarding work environment that allows for growth and new learning. This role will be based out of our head office at 621 Starboard Drive in Halifax, but supporting the Mount Uniacke Location.

We are seeking a Structural CAD Technician to join our team.

This role holds overall accountability for for producing structural and shop drawing packages for our steel stud wall panel plant as well as timely completion of bill of material reporting and programming of steel shop machinery.

What you will do:

  • Produce issued-for-construction structural drawing set for submission to Structural Engineer.
  • Review structural engineer’s drawings to draft initial wall panel design for Structural Engineer's approval.
  • Make revisions to stamped structural drawings and produce shop drawings.
  • Produce and forward the plant production BOM (bill of material) to wall plant personnel for wall panel production.
  • Create CNC files and maintain in shared access location for use by production team.
  • Review initial structural, shop drawings & CNC files with Wall Plant Manager for understanding prior to production.
  • Resolve and modify shop drawing and manufacturing inconsistencies that may arise during the manufacturing process which are directly related to the drawing package.

Your skills & experience:

  • 3+ years experience in structural detailing ideally in a manufacturing environment
  • Structural and/or miscellaneous steel installation and understanding of CWB procedures is a definite asset.
  • Able to read and interpret construction drawings, sketches and project plans and answer technical questions related to the work being performed.
  • Able to promote teamwork amongst the field team and wall plant personnel to achieve mutually advantageous outcomes.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and with acceptable driver’s abstract.
  • Demonstrates the ability to work in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, and collaborative environment while maintaining focus on successful completion of project milestones.
