As an independent, non-profit, regulatory agency that oversees the sales of new and used personal-use vehicles, the VSA:

What is the role?
We are seeking a highly skilled AI & Data Specialist to join our innovative team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining advanced data analytics and machine learning models to support strategic decision-making.
The AI & Data Specialist is responsible for gathering, analyzing, and reporting data related to VSA’s core business performance metrics. This includes both internal and external metrics systems. This individual will be responsible for work on special projects and daily tasks.
This role will enable teams to embrace change and join us on our journey towards digital transformation, using their technological skills to make us more efficient. Along with making sound and feasible recommendations to the IT Manager will enable confident decision making by assessing our current systems and assets, making meaningful recommendations, and managing projects from end-to-end.
They will also participate in multiple large projects and initiatives that will provide integral information to various stakeholders including management, the Executive Team and the Board of Directors.
The AI & Data Specialist must possess technical skills like data analytics, computer programming, statistical management, and soft skills like problem-solving, leadership, and critical thinking. The AI & Data Specialist will collaborate with the operations team to raise productivity levels across the board. The AI & Data Specialist will be expected to create automatic solutions to data-driven problems.
This role is required to assist VSA staff with IT related enquiries.
What you'll do:
- Function as a main contact for VSA business monitoring and reporting, as related to core performance metrics.
- Facilitate business intelligence gathering, both internal and external.
- Prepare performance reports for key stakeholders.
- Supervise the data integrity of data collection systems.
- Develop predictive models to assist with the evaluation of potential business decisions.
- Make recommendations about the selection of external vendors relating to web metrics.
- Ensure that technical system specifications align with business requirements.
- Research and recommend enhancements to data collection systems.
- Provide information and guidance when needed to ensure the success of initiatives or project completion.
- Create comprehensive reports for all levels within the organization, including various stakeholders.
- Establish and utilize a comprehensive, efficient, and focused process for reporting on business performance against performance metrics.
- Participate in the development of business plans for new projects and initiatives, potentially related to web properties, mobile platforms, partnerships, or future platforms.
- Ensure the integrity of research project data, including data extraction, processing, storage, manipulation, and analysis.
- Share knowledge of data coding and analysis techniques with members of the organization, as required.
- Participate in ongoing decisions regarding study design, data collection, data analysis, and methodology.
- Handle and resolve issues or disputes or enquiries from staff regarding IT.
- Lead the deployment and seamless integration of AI solutions to optimize business processes, fostering efficiency and innovation.
- Drive knowledge transfer initiatives and conduct user training to empower teams with AI use cases and best practices.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments to identify high-impact opportunities for AI solutions, ranging from out-of-the-box products to custom buildouts leveraging internal training data.
- Evaluate AI product offerings from new and existing vendors to determine value and relevance.
- Stay abreast of the latest AI advancements, particularly those relevant to the organization, by conducting market analyses and reviewing the AI tools landscape.
- Address security concerns by implementing measures to safeguard sensitive data and prevent unauthorized access.
- Other duties as assigned by the IT Manager.
Education Certification and Experience:
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or related technical field.
- Willing to consider a certificate or diploma program from a recognized educational institute or corporate training program such as Microsoft Data and AI Certification.
- Preferred: Minimum 2-Years of technical work experience.
- Willing to consider recent graduates who have intern or co-op experience.
- Experience and familiarity with a wide array of AI tools. – MS Copilot, MS Azure Data Factory, MS Azure Machine Learning.
- Demonstrated understanding of drafting IT or software user documentation; performing business analysis and/ or business process re-engineering; experience creating forms, views, and workflows within a CRM; and administrating enterprise-wide software applications
- Experience with or knowledge of programming languages and operating systems, current equipment and technologies, enterprise backup and recovery procedures, and system performance monitoring
- Experience with Microsoft 365 Suite preferred (Microsoft Dynamics 365, SharePoint, Exchange, Power Apps, Power Automate, Business Central, PowerBI)
- Proficiency in developing, training, and deploying models.
- Strong skills in data analysis and visualization tools.
- Proficient in programming languages like Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.
- Familiarity with cloud computing platforms and distributed computing environments.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Comprehensive understanding of network architecture and client/server technology
- Knowledge and understanding of the significance of confidentiality when maintaining public records
- Strong communication skills – both interpersonal and technical
- Knowledge of internet and web-based applications
- Ability to problem-solve using a technical and logical thought process
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a timely manner
- Ability to work with a high degree of independence, initiative and confidentiality
- Ability to adapt quickly to change and deal with overlapping or changing prioritie
- A keen eye for detail
- Collaborative professional who promotes teamwork and works cohesively within a team- orientated environment
- Good written and interpersonal communications skills
