and EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Electrical/Electronic/Telecoms/Computer Engineering
- Registered or eligible to register as a Professional Engineer/Licensee with APEGA
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Assist in system planning, design, preparation of documents for radio communication system installation and RF frequency licensing, including Trunked Radio and Microwave Radio systems, Telecom Shelters/Towers, and Telecom Sites
- Prepare design drawings such as architecture diagrams, layouts, wiring diagrams, calculations, BOM, cable schedules, and RF coverage report for radio communications system including tower sites
- Coordinate with vendors and review vendor engineering documentation to ensure engineering standards and the client’s specifications are met
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
- Knowledge of wireless technologies such as LMR (Land Mobile Radio), Wi-Fi, wireless PTMP/PTP, satellite, microwave, LTE and SCADA
- Expertise and experience with the P25 System is preferred
- Understanding of RF system infrastructure including repeaters, antennas, filters, combiners, multicouplers, duplexers, etc.
- Familiarity with IP network design
- Good understanding of RF propagation
- Experience with RF coverage modelling and predicting tools (Spectrum-E, Pathloss, ibWave, WinProp ProMan, Ekahau or similar)
- Knowledge of CEC, CSA S37, Motorola R56, and other relevant industry standards
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary environment and support team resources
- High attention to details
- Ability to draft engineering drawings using AutoCAD/MicroStation is an advantage
- Team-oriented, organized and customer focused
- Personal Characteristics: problem solving, ability to work under pressure
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Registered, or eligible to register, as a Professional Engineer with APEGA
- Eligible to work in Canada
