Full job description

Thinking Big is seeking a Data Quality Analyst experienced in the Health Care Industry for an 11 month fixed term contract.

Roles and Responsibilities

Data Standardization:

  • Develop and implement data quality standards and procedures to maintain the integrity of health portal data;
  • Ensure data standardization during portal implementation for data formats, terminology, and coding systems to promote consistency and interoperability across different data sources;
  • Map data elements from various sources to the corresponding fields within both the CDR and the health portal, ensuring alignment with data standards and requirements;

Data Validation/Quality:

  • Conduct regular analysis/audits of health portal data to identify discrepancies, inaccuracies, and inconsistencies;
  • Monitor data entry processes and systems, analyze data quality trends, and identify areas for improvement;
  • Design and execute data validation and reconciliation procedures to verify the accuracy of health portal data;
  • Conduct comprehensive quality assurance testing to validate the functionality and performance of data-related features and functionalities within the health portal;
  • Investigate root causes of data quality issues and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence; and
  • Create and maintain documentation related to data quality processes, procedures, guidelines and standards to ensure consistency in data management practices.

Communication/Facilitation:

  • Work closely with stakeholders, including healthcare providers and IT teams, to define data quality requirements and metrics;
  • Foster good relationships with various stakeholders to promote the advancement of data standards and stewardship;
  • Provide training and support to end-users and portal support staff on data quality best practices and procedures; and
  • Regularly communicate with stakeholders and the project team to report on data quality issues, initiatives, and improvements.

Other Services:

  • Develop data governance policies, procedures, and controls to govern data quality, security, and privacy throughout the lifecycle of the health portal;
  • Stay up to date on industry best practices to improve data quality processes;
  • Support regulatory compliance efforts related to data quality and privacy regulations in the healthcare sector; and
  • Utilize and adhere to project’s methodology, tools, and processes;
  • Complete all project deliverables required during the contracted period and provide all project; documentation completed during the course of the work;

Qualifications:

  • Candidate must have an upwards of five (5) years of direct experience performing data analysis and management preferably in a Health Care environment;
  • High degree of knowledge of data structures and data integrity;
  • Direct experience with data analysis, data analysis methods and tools;
  • Extensive experience doing data analysis in MS Excel (pivot tables, vlookup, formulas, advanced graphs, what-if analysis);
  • Extensive understanding of data standardization, validation, mapping;
  • Knowledge of other healthcare workflows, processes and solutions, such as EMR, Acute care Clinical Information system, Lab Information Systems, Radiology Systems, etc.;
  • Knowledge of Clinical data repositories is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards, terminologies, and regulatory requirements, such as HL7, ICD, LOINC, FHIR;
  • Ability to analyze complex datasets, identify patterns, trends, and anomalies, and derive actionable insights to improve data quality;
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate root causes of data quality issues and propose effective solutions;
  • Recent experience related to performing analysis and data quality checks associated with the movement of data between different technical solutions;
  • Experience in doing research, analyzing, proposing alternative solutions and developing documentation;
  • Experience working with government organizations would be considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic environment, establish priorities, and meet tight deadlines; and
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts

Job Type: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 11 months

Salary: $30.00-$55.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

Schedule:

  • 8 hour shift
  • Monday to Friday
