About the Company

OPUS Consulting Group is a multi-award-winning Vancouver IT company and a Microsoft Solutions Partner. The word “opus” comes from Latin and literally means “work.” It describes a large-scale composition. In short, it reflects the care we bring to every client project.

We help local businesses unlock their digital future. As a Vancouver IT company, we focus on secure, reliable technology that simply works. Above all, we treat your systems as if they were our own.

Integrity, Excellence, and Personal Accountability guide everything we do. Because of these values, we stand out from other Vancouver IT firms. As a result, clients trust us with the technology their teams rely on each day.

We specialize in Managed IT Services, IT security, IT outsourcing, and technology consulting. In addition, we tailor every service to each client’s needs. Therefore, businesses of all sizes gain a real competitive advantage from working with our Vancouver IT company. Ready to talk? Apply to this posting today.

About the Role

We are looking for a Strategic Technology Advisor (Principal Technology Consultant) to act as a trusted senior technology partner to our clients. This is a hybrid advisory and delivery role: you will own the client relationship and their technology environment as if you worked there yourself, set the strategic direction, and then see that strategy through to successful implementation.

You will operate at the intersection of business and technology — advising executives and boards on outcomes and investment, running deep environmental assessments, authoring detailed Statements of Work, building multi-year roadmaps that support fiscal planning, and managing projects from scope through delivery to client sign-off. You may implement solutions yourself or direct professional services resources, but you remain accountable for the outcome end to end.

This role suits someone who is naturally advisory, leads through influence rather than authority, and is genuinely invested in their clients’ success.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the client environment and relationship — take full ownership of assigned client environments and solutions, building trusted, long-term relationships across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Run environmental deep-dives — assess client infrastructure, security, cloud, and compliance posture, and translate findings into clear, outcome-based recommendations.
  • Author detailed Statements of Work — produce thorough, well-scoped SOWs that set clear expectations on outcomes, effort, dependencies, and cost.
  • Build technology roadmaps — create multi-year client technology roadmaps that align to business goals and enable fiscal and budget planning.
  • Manage projects end to end — drive each engagement from SOW creation through implementation — whether delivering personally or coordinating professional services resources — to client review, sign-off, and proper handover documentation to the support team.
  • Advise executives — present and defend recommendations to leadership teams and boards, framing technology decisions in terms of business outcomes, ROI, and risk.
  • Spot risk and opportunity — proactively identify risks and improvement opportunities others might miss, and bring solutions rather than wait to be asked.
  • Ensure quality and continuity — maintain accurate documentation and a clean transition to support so solutions remain reliable after delivery.

Strategic & Business Acumen

  • Thinks in business outcomes, not just technology.
  • Comfortable presenting to and advising executives and boards.
  • Understands budgeting, ROI, and cost justification.
  • Balances short-term needs with long-term technology roadmaps.

Communication

  • Translates complex technical concepts into plain business language.
  • Listens well and asks the right questions before proposing solutions.
  • Confident presenting recommendations and defending them.
  • Builds trust with both technical staff and non-technical stakeholders.

Leadership & Relationships

  • Naturally advisory — leads through influence rather than authority.
  • Builds strong client relationships over time.
  • Proactive, not waiting to be asked.
  • Comfortable challenging the status quo when necessary.

Technical Credibility

  • Broad knowledge across infrastructure, security, cloud, and compliance.
  • Stays current with emerging technologies and the vendor landscape.
  • Knows enough to ask the right questions of specialists.
  • Can spot risk and opportunity others might miss.

Who You Are

  • Honest, even when the message is uncomfortable.
  • Accountable and follows through on commitments.
  • Curious and a continuous learner.
  • Calm under pressure and decisive when needed.
  • Client-first mindset — genuinely invested in the client’s success.

What We Offer

Working closely with our Sales Professional Team you are a senior, high-trust role with real ownership of client outcomes, direct access to decision-makers, and the autonomy to shape both strategy and delivery.

How to Apply

To apply, submit your CV and a description of a client engagement you owned from strategy through to delivery, and the business outcome it achieved.
