Location: Calgary, Alberta (hybrid and remote options available)

Position Type: Full-Time

Pay: Starting at $140k CAD per year (Exempt) (dependent on experience)

Position Overview: Summit Hydraulics and PowerX International are seeking an experienced, technically knowledgeable, and results-driven Hydraulics National Sales Manager to lead the growth and development of our hydraulic product business throughout Canada. This position will represent and sell products from both Summit Hydraulics and PowerX International, developing relationships with distributors, dealers, OEMs, industrial end users, contractors, and other key customers across the Canadian market.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on hydraulic industry professional with strong technical knowledge of hydraulic components and high-pressure hydraulic tools, combined with proven sales and business-development capabilities. The successful candidate will be comfortable speaking with everyone from hydraulic technicians and maintenance personnel to purchasing managers, engineers, distributors, and senior executives.

The National Sales Manager will be responsible for identifying new opportunities, developing existing accounts, expanding distribution, supporting customers technically, and establishing both brands as preferred suppliers throughout Canada.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a strategic sales plan to expand the company’s hydraulic product market share across Canada targeting industrial MRO, construction, oil & gas, mining, forestry, marine and shipbuilding, ports and terminals, infrastructure, power generation & utilities, and transportation, hydraulics service and repair, and OEM equipment manufacturers.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities through cold calls, site visits, networking, and referrals.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with existing clients by understanding their hydraulic system needs and providing solutions that meet those needs.
  • Provide technical expertise and support, including product demonstrations and troubleshooting assistance.
  • Collaborate with internal teams (engineering, customer service, procurement) to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity, customer interactions, and pipeline progress using CRM software.
  • Stay current on industry trends, competitor activities, and new product developments.
  • Attend industry trade shows, expos, and customer events as required.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • 10+ years of outside sales experience specifically in hydraulic products and services, industrial, fluid-power, heavy equipment, or related industries.
  • Technical knowledge of hydraulic components and systems (hoses, couplings, umps, cylinders, valves, gauges, fittings, tools, etc.) is required.
  • Demonstrate solution-based mindset of connecting hydraulic products to solve customer challenges.
  • Proven ability to meet or exceed sales targets and KPIs.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a customer-first mindset.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM tools.
  • Valid driver’s license and passport and willingness to travel regularly within the assigned territory.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field.
  • Existing customer base and/or industry contacts in the hydraulic or fluid power industry.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access all areas of the facility to determine needs.
