Klohn Crippen Berger (KCB) Infrastructure is seeking a skilled and motivated Senior Structural Engineer that has experience working with multi-disciplinary project teams on small to large-scale engineering projects who is interested in working on technically challenging projects from concept to completion. The types of projects may include water supply dams, hydraulic structures, municipal stormwater management infrastructure, flood protection works, earth retention structures, river diversion works, and tailings dams. This role can be based in our Calgary, Edmonton, or Saskatoon office.

What You’ll Do

As a senior member of the team, you will:

  • Lead structural and civil engineering designs for dams, hydraulic structures, and other water infrastructure and civil engineering projects.

  • Prepare technical reports, proposals, and project deliverables.

  • Participate in site visits to inform design decisions and ensure quality throughout project execution.

  • Work and collaborate with KCB employees from other offices in Canada and from our international offices on multi-disciplinary teams.

  • Mentor and coach junior engineers and support the development of team technical expertise.

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships and support business development efforts.

  • Travel periodically to project locations, typically in Alberta, but also to other Canadian provinces and international locations.

We respect the knowledge and experience you have gained to date and are willing to help you build on it. We do however request the following minimum qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) registration in Canada or eligibility for registration in Alberta.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.

  • 15+ years of engineering experience in the design and construction of dams, hydraulic structures, and other water infrastructure and civil engineering projects.

  • Technical expertise in reinforced concrete and structural steel design.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including experience in contributing to proposals and technical reports.

  • Strong time management and organizational skills.

  • Working knowledge of construction methodology and scheduling, with experience in administrating construction contracts.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Working knowledge in the following areas are considered an asset:

  • Concrete dam design;

  • Spillway and intake design;

  • Structural analyses software programs, such as Civil Midas and RISA;

  • Canadian Dam Association guidelines and regulations; and

  • Dam safety inspections, dam safety reviews, failure mode and effects assessments, and risk assessments.
