Job description:

Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Residential Youth Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting and educating children in various settings, fostering their development and well-being. This position requires a strong commitment to creating a safe and engaging environment for youth, helping them navigate challenges and achieve their personal goals. The work environment is at times fast-paced and busy. Driver's license + reliable vehicle to drive to various homes/programs is an asset. Must be available to work full weekends twice a month to provide our Foster Parents with relief.

Duties
- Provide guidance and support to children in educational and recreational activities.
- Develop and implement engaging programs that promote learning, social skills, and emotional growth.

- Provide care providers with support and relief, which includes being able to live-in the home approx. 2 weekends a month to provide the care providers relief.
- Foster positive relationships with youth, encouraging open communication and trust.
- Monitor individual progress and provide feedback to parents or guardians as needed.
- Collaborate with other staff members to create a cohesive approach to youth development.

-Maintain a clean and orderly work environment and complete all required licensing checks
- Assist in organizing and supervising activities that teach skills and fosters development.
- Maintain a safe environment by adhering to all safety protocols and guidelines.

- complete all reports as required by the Ministry.

Experience
- Previous experience working with children in a residential setting is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with youth from diverse backgrounds.
- A background in education, child development, or related fields is preferred but not mandatory.

- Must have excellent crisis intervention skills and problem-solving skills.

- Must be reliable, take initiative, and work with minimal supervision.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential for this role.
