Job Summary

Join our vibrant team as a Liquor Store Clerk at Barrel Wine "n' Spirits in Peace River and become the friendly face that customers rely on for an exceptional shopping experience! In this energetic role, you will assist customers with their selections, manage sales transactions efficiently, and ensure the store remains well-organized and inviting. Your enthusiasm for customer service, combined with your knowledge of products and sales techniques, will help drive store success and foster a welcoming environment for all patrons. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to develop retail and sales skills while working in a dynamic setting.

Duties

  • Greet customers warmly and provide knowledgeable assistance on a wide range of liquor products, including spirits, wines, and beers
  • Conduct product demonstrations and upsell items to enhance customer satisfaction and increase sales
  • Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately for cash handling, credit card transactions, and receipts
  • Maintain organized merchandising displays to highlight featured products and promotions
  • Ensure compliance with legal age restrictions by verifying identification during purchases
  • Manage inventory levels by restocking shelves, conducting stock counts, and reporting low stock items
  • Provide excellent customer service through clear communication, phone etiquette, and prompt assistance

Experience

  • Previous retail sales or cashiering experience preferred, especially within beverage or specialty retail environments
  • Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities or multilingual skills are a plus to serve diverse customer bases
  • Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling procedures, and basic math for transaction accuracy
  • Experience in merchandising, product demos, or technical sales enhances your ability to engage customers effectively
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to manage time efficiently during busy periods
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a positive attitude and professional appearance
  • Knowledge of alcohol laws and responsible service practices is advantageous
