About Us:
Dr. Panda Academy offers engaging small-group LEGO Robotics and STEM programs designed to inspire children to think like engineers. Our classes combine creativity, problem-solving, and fun — helping students build real-world skills through hands-on learning.

Job Description:
We’re looking for an energetic and reliable instructor who enjoys working with children and has a strong interest in technology and education. The ideal candidate can teach LEGO Robotics classes and may also be able to teach coding, math, or science sessions.

The instructor will teach both of the following programs:

Math Enrichment

  • Teach problem-solving and mathematical thinking to students primarily in Grades 3–6
  • Use Math Kangaroo questions and similar enrichment materials
  • Help students develop logical reasoning, problem-solving strategies, and confidence in mathematics
  • Connect enrichment activities with the BC mathematics curriculum
  • Explain mathematical concepts clearly and encourage students to try different approaches

Robotics and STEM

  • Teach hands-on robotics classes using LEGO Education WeDo and EV3
  • Guide students through building, coding, testing, and improving their robotic models
  • Introduce basic engineering design and programming concepts
  • Encourage creativity, teamwork, and independent problem-solving
  • Experience with Arduino, Scratch, Python, electronics, or other STEM activities would be a strong asset

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons
  • Create a positive, patient, and encouraging classroom environment
  • Adapt instruction to different student abilities and learning styles
  • Manage a small group of up to four students
  • Set up and organize teaching materials and robotics equipment
  • Communicate briefly with parents about student participation and progress
  • Ensure that students use equipment safely and responsibly

Qualifications

  • Strong mathematics skills and familiarity with the BC mathematics curriculum
  • Experience working with elementary or middle-school students
  • Ability to explain concepts clearly and patiently
  • Reliable, organized, and comfortable managing a small group
  • Strong communication skills in English
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
  • Willingness to complete a Criminal Record Check for working with children

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience teaching Math Kangaroo or other mathematics enrichment programs
  • Experience with LEGO Education WeDo, EV3, SPIKE, or similar robotics systems
  • Knowledge of basic coding, Arduino, electronics, or engineering projects
  • Education, engineering, computer science, mathematics, or science background
  • Previous tutoring, teaching, coaching, camp, or youth-program experience

A BC teaching certificate is welcome but is not required.

Schedule

  • Part-time, in-person position
  • Weekday afternoon classes
  • Classes are held at our learning centre in Squamish
  • Current teaching days are mainly Mondays and Wednesdays
  • Additional classes or camps may become available during school holidays and summer

Applicants who can teach both Math and Robotics are preferred. However, candidates with strong experience in only one subject are also encouraged to apply.
