Overview:

Construction labourers are responsible for complete a variety of tasks; this includes lifting, shoveling, digging locates, raking gravel, operating jack hammers, moving barricades, and running plate tampers.

Duties/Tasks:

• Responsible for checking equipment and informing mechanics and supervisors of mechanical problems with the equipment;
• Identifying hazards on site;
• Learning general construction practices involving road construction;
• Understand the issues involving ground disturbance and work in / implement safe work practices; and
• Contribute to a safe work environment.

Knowledge/Skills Required:

• Must have a valid driver’s license - Class 5.
• Must be physically able to perform all physical actions pertinent to the tools and equipment operated.
• Must be willing to learn and take direction.
• Must be able to communicate well with co-workers.
• Must be able to work under pressure in some situations.
• Must be able to meet all safety requirements and applicable safety policies.
• Must be willing to work overtime as required.

Working Conditions:

• Travel between local job sites as required
• Overtime, evenings and weekends as required
• Work outdoors in a dusty and noisy construction environment, potentially in adverse weather conditions
• Potential to drive company vehicles or equipment
• Must meet and adhere to all safety requirements and applicable safety policies, including pre-employment drug, alcohol, and medical testing
