About the position

Duties
✅ Plans and delivers technical and legislative courses and training for CCG learners, and provides tutoring and remedial training to trainees on an individual or group basis.
✅ Operates and maintains a variety of communications, navigational, and informatics systems used in the delivery of technical training.
✅ Develops and reviews projects, course outlines, objectives, and training documentation related to electronic systems and informatics training to instruct on the setup and operation of EITT equipment with an emphasis on practical and on-the-job learning.
✅ Develops and administers assessment tools to evaluate students progress and provide individualized feedback, and submits final marks to the Superintendent, EITT.
✅ Tests, evaluates and assists with the technical maintenance of EITT equipment and machinery parts and assists in the procurement of additional equipment and materials.
✅ Advises CCGC management as a subject matter expert (SME) on electronics and informatics and liaises with College staff and Life Cycle Managers to ensure equipment and facilities are operational and courses objectives remain relevant.

The Canadian Coast Guard Academy is the national maritime training facility of the Canadian Coast Guard. The CCG Academy develops and delivers specialized training and services in French and English to support our mission and mandate in marine safety, security and environmental protection. Their unique and specialized training is sought after by organizations around the world. Each year, highly trained graduates join their colleagues as Coast Guard officers to provide services that are critical to Canadians.

EDUCATION:
ED1: A secondary school diploma; and
ED2: Completion of an acceptable training program in electronics technology or the employer-approved alternative.
The employer-approved alternative is as follows:
  • An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience.
Note:
1. Normally, an acceptable training program in electronics technology involves the completion of two to three years of post-secondary study in this subject.
2. “Secondary school” diploma is referred to as “High School” diploma.

EXPERIENCE:
EX1: Recent* and significant** experience in the field of Electronic System maintenance
OR
EX2: Recent experience as an electronic system instructor with significant experience in the field of Electronic System maintenance.
Note:
Recent* experience is normally defined as within the last 5 years.
Significant** experience is normally defined as having worked in the field a minimum of 3 years.
