Full job description

Immediate, full-time job opening for an Integrated Systems Testing Coordinator.

Matteo Gilfillan and Associates Inc. (MGA) is a Canadian Building and Fire Code consulting firm providing services in the fields of fire protection and life safety. MGA provides Code consulting services and solutions on building designs and concepts, prepares alternative solution proposals, and conducts building inspections / audits for a variety of project types, building sizes and occupancies. MGA also provides ULC S1001 Integrated Systems Testing coordination services.

MGA is looking to expand their team by adding a skilled, self-motivated Integrated Systems Testing Coordinator who will embrace a lead role on Integrated Systems Testing as well as participate in consulting on new construction, renovation, and existing building projects with respect to the application of Building and Fire Codes. The successful candidate will be required to work in a team environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducting Integrated Fire and Life Safety Testing Services
  • Developing and preparing Code reports and other technical documents (including ULC S1001 test plans and reports),
  • Inspecting and evaluating existing buildings,
  • Conducting building plan reviews,
  • Conducting quality assurance reviews of documentation prepared by other associates,
  • Developing and documenting Alternative Solution Proposals,
  • Attending project meetings,
  • Managing projects and related administrative duties,
  • Managing internal project teams,
  • Communicating with clients, authorities, and staff alike in a professional manner,
  • Conducting business development - generate new opportunities and build client base,
  • Preparing project proposals, and
  • Involvement in professional development opportunities (conference, seminars, presentations, etc.).

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering or Diploma in Fire Protection or Architectural Technology. Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Limited Engineering Technologist (LET) (or eligibility to obtain LET) designation in the Province of Ontario is preferred,
  • Experience with CAN/ULC-S1001 testing,
  • ULC S1001 Integrated Testing Coordinator certification is preferred,
  • Minimum 5 years of Fire and Life Safety Consulting experience,
  • Knowledge of the inspection and testing requirements of various life safety and fire protection systems,
  • Expert knowledge of Ontario Building and Fire Codes and associated Standards,
  • Knowledge in fire alarm and fire protection systems,
  • Understanding of fire and life safety engineering principles,
  • Knowledge of building design and construction,
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) in the English language,
  • Ability to manage and work on multiple projects at a time,
  • Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and workloads,
  • Strong work ethic with attention to detail,
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam and Microsoft Office software,
  • Ability to work efficiently to meet client project deadlines,
  • Able to work independently, developing Code compliant solutions and alternative solutions,
  • Focus on customer service,
  • Willingness to mentor and provide training to less experienced associates,
  • Ability to travel for meetings and building audits predominately in Toronto and the surrounding area.
