Job Title: Shop Labourer / Vessel Entry Assistant
Location: Strathmore, AB, Canada
Job Type: Full-Time / Contract (Starting ASAP)
Pay Rate: $20 - $25/hour (Depending on experience)

Job Summary: We are seeking an eager, mechanically-inclined shop labourer to join our shop immediately. You will work closely with our inspection and repair team, assisting with hands-on tasks ranging from piping and valve repairs to confined space entry, cleaning, and surface preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Vessel Entry & Inspection Prep: Safely enter confined spaces inside vessels to inspect baffles, thoroughly buff and polish steel surfaces, and assist inspectors with setting up equipment.
  • Mechanical Assistance: Assist welders and technicians with the assembly, disassembly, and repair of piping systems and valves.
  • Surface Preparation: Operate power tools to clean, metal surfaces prior to non-destructive testing (NDT) and visual inspections.
  • General Shop Maintenance: Keep the shop floor and workstations clean and hazard-free. Safely organize tools, scrap steel, and inventory.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to confined space entry protocols, wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Previous experience in an industrial, fabrication, or mechanical shop environment is highly preferred, but we are willing to train the right, hardworking candidate.
  • Physical Capability: Must be comfortable working in confined spaces, at heights, and in varying temperatures. Capable of frequently lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Safety Mindset: Confined space entry training (CSO, CSTS, or similar) is a strong asset. Valid Standard First Aid and fall protection certifications are a plus.
  • Tools: Mechanically inclined with the ability to safely operate heavy-duty power and hand tools. Must provide your own steel-toed boots.

Work Conditions

  • Monday to Friday schedule with occasional overtime or weekend shifts depending on workload, willing to work outdoors at times and have your own vehicle.
  • At times is a fast-paced environment that requires rolling up your sleeves and getting dirty.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
