Full job description

About the role

Gertex Group of Companies is a packaging and distribution business based in Ontario, operating across the Gertex and Impak brands. Our small, technically deep IT team supports ERP, warehouse management, custom quoting tools, business intelligence and the infrastructure behind our operations.

As the primary technical resource for our business systems and IT environment, you will work with the IT Director and an external Managed Service Provider (MSP), serving as the internal technical lead and primary escalation point for day-to-day operations. The role spans ERP and CRM administration, infrastructure, Microsoft 365 and cloud platforms, integrations, internal tooling, security and voice operations.

This role suits a technically versatile senior professional who is comfortable configuring ERP workflows, managing Microsoft 365 and overseeing infrastructure, and who takes ownership of outcomes. The MSP handles first-response support and after-hours monitoring.

Occasional travel between Gertex sites may be required.

Key responsibilities

ERP and CRM administration

  • Administer and maintain the P21 ERP system, including user management, role configuration, module setup, and master data integrity.
  • Provide tier 2 and tier 3 application support, coordinating with vendors and escalating software defects where required.
  • Manage and maintain the Impak/Gertex quote generation system, including integrations with ERP data sources.
  • Plan and coordinate application upgrades, patches, and UAT with business stakeholders.
  • Manage the Salesforce CRM platform, including configuration, user access, and reporting, working with the external Salesforce support group for enhancements and issue resolution.

Networking and infrastructure

  • Manage the Ubiquiti UniFi network environment: switching, wireless, routing, and VPN - reviewing health and applying updates on a weekly to monthly cadence.
  • Oversee server infrastructure, backup systems, and virtualisation platforms, ensuring availability and business continuity on a scheduled cadence.

Microsoft 365 and cloud administration

  • Administer the Microsoft 365 tenant: Exchange Online, Teams (including Teams Phone), SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune, and Entra ID / Azure AD.
  • Manage conditional access policies, compliance configurations, DLP policies, and sensitivity labels.
  • Oversee SaaS subscriptions: licence tracking, renewals, shadow IT identification, and vendor management.
  • Manage Azure cloud resources including monitoring, governance, and security posture.

Teams Phone administration

  • Administer Microsoft Teams Phone including PSTN connectivity, voice routing, auto attendants, call queues, and E911 compliance.
  • Manage number assignments, SBC/Direct Routing configuration, and call quality monitoring.

Cybersecurity operational lead

  • Serve as the primary internal contact for the MSP on day-to-day security execution: receiving Defender alert escalations, directing triage, and enforcing access and endpoint policies.
  • Review Microsoft Secure Score weekly and tune conditional access, endpoint, and identity policies accordingly.
  • Support the IT Director on security projects, compliance initiatives, and audit preparation.

MSP relationship and escalation

  • Act as the primary internal technical escalation point from the MSP for all operational matters, including infrastructure, networking, connectivity, security, Microsoft 365 and Tier 2–3 voice issues.
  • Review MSP escalations, direct resolution, and maintain runbooks to support MSP first-response quality.
  • Collaborate with the IT Director on MSP SLA monitoring and service reviews.

What we are looking for

Required

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in information technology, computer science, or a related field - or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Five-eight years of progressively responsible experience in IT systems administration, infrastructure or business applications, with demonstrated ownership across multiple technical areas.
  • Hands-on experience administering an ERP platform - P21 (Prophet 21) experience is an advantage.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 administration: Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, Intune, Entra ID, and Conditional Access.
  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals: VLANs, switching, VPN, DNS/DHCP, and wireless management.
  • Comfortable working with SQL databases for querying.
  • Strong documentation habits - runbooks, integration maps, change logs, and architecture diagrams.
  • Self-directed and able to manage a broad scope of responsibilities with minimal supervision.

Preferred

  • Experience with Ubiquiti UniFi networking products.
  • Azure governance, monitoring, and cost management experience.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Teams Phone / Direct Routing administration.
  • Familiarity with Fivetran, Azure Data Factory, or similar ETL/pipeline tooling.
  • Exposure to distribution or manufacturing ERP environments.
  • Experience working alongside or managing an MSP relationship.

What we offer

  • A technically diverse role with ownership across IT domains and exposure to ERP, cloud, networking, integrations and security.
  • Work in a small, high-trust team with direct access to the IT Director and visibility into strategy and decision-making.
  • Make a direct impact on business operations in a team that values technical depth, ownership and pragmatic problem-solving over bureaucracy.

Application information

  • This posting is for an existing vacancy.
  • Artificial intelligence may be used to screen, assess, or select applicants.
  • Gertex Group of Companies is an equal opportunity employer. Accommodations are available on request for candidates taking part in all aspects of the selection process.

Pay: $90,000.00-$110,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Extended health care
  • On-site parking

  • Briefly list the cybersecurity tools and security controls you have worked with directly - for example, Microsoft Defender alerts, conditional access policies or endpoint security policies.

Experience:

  • administering an ERP system: 3 years (required)
