Responsibility

• Mechanical Design of large and technically complex packaging equipment
• Prepare plant layout and equipment proposals
• Understanding of engineering and statistical calculations and problem-solving approaches.
• Experience in designing parts for a variety of fabrication techniques (CNC Machining, Sheet Metal Forming) and ease of assembly.
• Completes all required machine build drawings (drafting) as required
• Completes “as-built” drawing updates on machinery when required, reviews updates/changes with the other departments when required
• Generates Bill of Materials (BOM) for both purchased parts and raw manufactured materials as required
• Experience in SolidWorks / AutoCAD (minimum 2 years)
• Maintain all project and drawing files
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines / budgets
• Communicate project concerns, project status, and design solutions with management, fellow staff, and clients
• In coordination with Project Management participates in presentations of the design to the client, acquires client signoff the design concept to proceed with detailing and manufacturing
• Create and maintain efficiency in the design process
• Mentors’ other designers with the mechanical design and detailing of larger systems
• Coordinate with suppliers and machine shops to ensure part quality and timing

Qualifications and Education Requirements **

• Bachelor of Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.
• Must have packaging machinery design experience 2 + years preferred.
• Knowledge and understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing process.
• Creative problem-solving ability.
• Strong analytical and numeracy skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately.
• Self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment and independently.
• Innovative thinker and proven problem-solving skills.
• An eye for detail and a methodical work process.
