Overview

Rockwood Custom Homes is a premier custom home builder based in Calgary, Alberta, seeking an exceptional Interior Designer to join our highly skilled team. The successful candidate will thrive in our culture of excellence, creativity, and client-focused service, guiding homeowners through the design journey while delivering thoughtfully curated spaces that reflect their unique lifestyles and vision.

As an Interior Designer at Rockwood, you will manage multiple custom home projects simultaneously, leading clients through the selection and design process from concept to completion. This role requires a strong eye for design, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, consultants, trades, suppliers, and internal team members. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing design concepts, coordinating selections, managing budgets, presenting design solutions, and ensuring seamless execution throughout the construction process.

Working closely with our clients and project teams, you will help create luxury custom homes that exemplify the quality, craftsmanship, and attention to detail that define the Rockwood brand.

Duties

  • Collaborate with clients to gather requirements and understand their vision for interior spaces.
  • Develop design concepts that align with client expectations, incorporating elements of style, color, texture, and space planning.
  • Present design proposals to clients, effectively communicating ideas through sketches, mood boards, and 3D renderings.
  • Negotiate with vendors and contractors to ensure project specifications are met within budgetary constraints.
  • Supervise the implementation of design projects, ensuring quality control throughout the process.
  • Conduct site visits to assess progress and address any issues that may arise during construction or installation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, materials, and technologies to incorporate innovative solutions into designs.
  • Manage risks associated with project timelines and deliverables while maintaining a high level of client satisfaction.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Interior Design or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Proven experience in interior design or a related field is preferred.
  • Proficient in hand drafting for detailed interior drawings
  • Skill in AutoCAD is preferred buy not mandatory
  • Comfortable utilizing AI tools and technology to improve efficiency and organization, and design renderings
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage multiple trades and suppliers.
  • Ability to gather requirements efficiently and translate them into actionable design plans.
  • Strong risk management skills to identify potential challenges early in the design process.
  • Excellent negotiation skills for working with clients and vendors.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office.
  • Experience in product management and development is a plus.
