About the Role
Canadian Smart Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager to join our expanding Security & Smart Technologies team in Mississauga and GTA. In this role, you will lead the planning, coordination, engineering oversight, procurement, installation, and commissioning of complex security and smart‑building projects across Canada. You will ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and customer satisfaction.
This position serves as a primary point of contact for clients and plays a key role in strengthening long‑term relationships while driving operational excellence.

What You’ll Do
Project Leadership
- Manage all phases of assigned projects—from award to completion—including planning, scheduling, engineering coordination, procurement, installation oversight, and commissioning.
- Lead multiple large‑scale or complex projects simultaneously.
- Translate customer requirements into detailed project plans, technical scopes, and cost estimates.
- Review and approve project budgets, proposals, and engineering documentation.
Customer & Team Collaboration
- Serve as the primary customer interface, ensuring clear communication, timely updates, and exceptional service.
- Provide technical guidance to internal teams and support the sales organization when required.
- Maintain accurate project documentation, including schedules, change orders, financial tracking, and progress reports.
Risk, Cost & Quality Management
- Identify project risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Monitor project financials, including actual vs. estimated costs, productivity, and cash flow.
- Adjust project plans as needed to meet financial and operational targets.
- Oversee subcontractor selection, performance, and compliance with project requirements.
Leadership Responsibilities
- Provide coaching, mentorship, and direction to project teams.
- Support performance management, resource planning, and team development.
- Foster a collaborative, safety‑focused, and customer‑centric work environment.
What You Bring
Technical & Professional Expertise
- Extensive project management experience in security systems, building automation, fire alarm, or smart‑building technologies.
- Strong understanding of IT networking principles and system integration.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and system architectures.
- Proven troubleshooting and problem‑solving capabilities.
Leadership & Communication
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, mentor colleagues, and build consensus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly, take initiative, and drive continuous improvement.
Education & Credentials
- Diploma or degree in Engineering, Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5–10 years of project management experience; experience in healthcare, data centres, or critical infrastructure is an asset.
- Experience in the Canadian electronic security industry is required.
- PMI certification or industry‑specific credentials are considered an advantage.
