Position Summary

The Senior Geologist provides senior-level geological support to TANCO’s underground mining and exploration activities. The position is responsible for providing accurate and timely geological information to support mine production, grade control, exploration, drilling and geological interpretation.

The Senior Geologist works closely with the Chief Geologist, Mine Operations, Engineering and other technical personnel while providing technical guidance to less experienced members of the geology team.

  • Support ore blending, grade forecasting and dilution estimates.
  • Work collaboratively with Mine Operations and Engineering to support mining plans and production objectives.
  • Maintain geological plans, sections, interpretations and production records.
  • Identify opportunities to improve geological and grade-control practices.

These responsibilities build on TANCO’s existing Production/Exploration Geologist duties, including underground mapping and sampling, grade control, assay validation, grade estimation, dilution estimates and grade forecasting.

  • Maintain and review geological databases, assay information, drilling records, plans and sections.
  • Analyze and interpret geological data to support operational and exploration decisions.
  • Develop and update geological models using applicable geological and mine-planning software.
  • Ensure geological information is accurate, complete and appropriately documented.
  • Support geological interpretation for mine planning and resource-related activities.
  • Assist in improving geological data management and modelling practices.

TANCO’s current geology specifications reference AutoCAD, Datamine, Promine, Leapfrog, Surpac and GIS applications for geological work.

Technical Leadership

  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to geologists and geological technicians.
  • Coordinating day-to-day geological priorities.
  • Review geological work to promote quality, accuracy and consistency.
