Position Summary
Northern Health is looking for an experienced, highly efficient, and self-directed Assistant to support the Human Resources department.
Reporting to the Regional Director, Employee Experience & Organizational Development, the Assistant, People Development provides administrative support to the Employee Experience & Organizational Development portfolio. The incumbent supports the creation and maintenance of business processes for various people development programs, updates internal and external communications channels with current program information, responds to program inquiries, registers and tracks program participants, tracks program expenditures and facilitates preparation and distribution of program applications and learning. The position also supports the coordination of program logistics and the scheduling/coordination of related meetings, teleconferences, and virtual conferences. This includes support for existing programs as well as newly developed programs. Priorities include supporting the development of a centrally coordinated development programs and other business processes, tracking program data, and identifying and supporting staff currently delivering development programs. The Assistant, People Development is responsible and accountable for supporting the development, operation and quality improvement of assigned programs, as well as providing administrative support to the Employee Experience & Organizational Development portfolio in day-to-day activities, as directed by the Regional Director.
Starting salary will be approximately from $49,445 to $61,806 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 with completion of a one year recognized business/secretarial certificate.
- Three (3) to five (5) years recent related experience in a similar position, or one which reflects discrete aspects of the role, i.e. education.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Experience and knowledge of the post-secondary system an asset.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to exercise initiative and work effectively both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to plan and organize work and prioritize multiple competing activities concurrently.
- Ability to problem solve and identify solutions to issues.
- Ability to adapt and be flexible to changing priorities, demands and deadlines.
- Ability to develop, document and improve systems, procedures and processes.
- Ability to conduct research and gather information using a variety of methods.
- Ability to type 50 words per minute.
- Ability to operate related equipment including relevant computer software applications (e.g. MS Office Suite, including Word 2007, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe, Live Meeting, Articulate, Visio, and Publisher).
- Ability and willingness to travel.
