A NOTE ON HOW TO REACH US
We're truly grateful that so many people have Foundant on their radar — it means a lot that our work resonates with others. That said, due to the high volume of direct messages and emails we receive, cold outreach isn't the preferred way to be considered for a role, and we're not able to prioritize applications submitted this way. To apply for open positions, please visit our careers page, which is the fastest and most effective route to being considered.
About Foundant
At Foundant, we build mission-critical software for the social good ecosystem — helping foundations, grantmakers, nonprofits, and community organizations streamline their work, strengthen relationships, and maximize their impact. We're a unified company shaped by strong roots across our product portfolio, and we operate with intention and purpose. Our team of ~350 people across six countries is connected by a shared North Star: to be the trusted partner and strategic advisor to the communities we serve.
Role Summary
As a Technical Community Support with SmartSimple’s Essential Support team at Foundant, you'll be the voice of customer support and a critical link between our clients and internal teams. You’ll provide prompt, professional, and knowledgeable technical support to help mission-driven organizations succeed with our software. This role combines troubleshooting expertise with a passion for customer success, operating as a technical problem-solver and customer advocate who helps organizations achieve their missions more efficiently and effectively.

Our global network of talent is supported by physical office hubs and virtual collaboration, fostering a dynamic environment where innovation and growth thrive.
- With office locations in Bozeman, MT, Toronto, Canada, and Dublin, Ireland, you'll be part of a globally connected team. Whether you're working remotely or from one of our office locations, you'll be contributing to a vibrant, collaborative culture focused on driving meaningful impact across the world.
What You’ll Do:
- Respond to and triage inbound support tickets, applying initial diagnosis and prioritization based on severity and SLA.
- Troubleshoot common SmartSimple configuration, workflow, and reporting issues, resolving independently where possible.
- Escalate complex or unresolved issues to Subject Matter Experts with clear documentation of steps already taken.
- Maintain accurate, timely ticket notes and status updates in the ticketing system (powered by Zendesk) to support reporting on KPIs and knowledge continuity.
- Maintain a high level of communication with all levels of client interaction to ensure proactive, solution-oriented problem identification and resolution.
- Test fixes provided by the Engineering team and incorporate them into client systems.
- Advocate new platform features and assist clients in adopting these through upgrades, configuration changes, or training. Provide instruction and documentation to ensure the technical success of these initiatives.
- Facilitate relationships across client success, internal teams, and departments to strengthen partnerships.
- Contributor to continuous process improvement within and between all areas of Support.
- Participate in team huddles, training sessions, knowledge-sharing activities and process improvement discussions.
- Meet individual and team KPIs for ticket volume, response time, and customer satisfaction.
- Some travel may be required (estimated less than 10%).
- Other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need:
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Technology, Engineering, Sciences, Mathematics (STEM) field.
- 1–2 years of experience in a customer-facing technical support, or SaaS support role.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Comfortable learning new software platforms quickly; prior exposure to SaaS, CRM, or grants management tools is a plus.
- Solid troubleshooting instincts - able to isolate a problem, test hypotheses, and document findings.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail when managing a queue of concurrent tickets.
- Demonstrable success in thinking strategically, executing tactically, while providing consistent and high levels of client satisfaction and retention in a fast-paced environment.
- Comfortable working in a metric-driven environment.
