Full job description

Overview

We are recruiting on behalf of our client in Cambridge. We are looking for a Senior Precision Finisher to manage their edge-breaking and surface-finishing processes for aerospace and satellite hardware. This role is responsible for deburring, lapping, and micro-finishing complex parts to tight tolerances. We need an experienced professional who takes ownership of their work, maintains high quality standards, and brings deep knowledge of hand tools, abrasives, and precision measurement.

Responsibilities

  • Take full ownership of the precision finishing process
  • Perform intricate micro-deburring, lapping, and stoning on complex machined geometries.
  • Work under a microscope as needed to inspect parts and achieve precise edge breaking and surface quality.
  • Reference engineering drawings, digital work instructions, and specifications to determine exact finishing requirements and protect critical part geometries.
  • Independently verify part dimensions and critical features using precision measuring instruments, including calipers, micrometers, and optical gauges, ensuring parts meet exact quality standards.
  • Apply trade knowledge to select optimal abrasives, refine hand-finishing techniques, and support shop team members on quality and finishing standards.

Requirements

● Strong personal standards, treating high-value components with care, accuracy, and accountability for the final result.

● Practical knowledge of abrasives, grit progression, lapping compounds, and surface roughness requirements for precision metal finishing.

● Steady hands and manual dexterity required for extended micro-finishing under magnification.

● Working understanding of technical drawings, GD&T, and digital work instructions to identify critical tolerances and feature requirements.

● Hands-on experience with standard precision measuring equipment (calipers, micrometers, pin/depth gauges) to verify work.

● Secondary school diploma (High School), GED or equivalent

● 5 to 7+ years of hands-on experience in high-precision aerospace deburring, mold/die polishing, or specialized tool finishing.

● Proven ability to work independently, manage finishing workflows, and deliver defect-free components.

Pay: $30.00-$35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40.0 per week

Work Location: In person
