Business Development / Sales Lead

We help people understand and improve their health through comprehensive assessments including DEXA body composition scans and bloodwork paired with an AI-powered dashboard, combined with expert guidance and ongoing support. Since 2024, we have served thousands of members.

Our mission is to help people take control of their long- term health before problems arise. As we continue to grow, we’re expanding beyond one time health assessments to a membership based model focused on building lasting relationships with our members throughout their health journey. Strategic partnerships with businesses, health care providers, fitness professionals and community organizations will play a key role in helping people discover and join Benchmark.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for our first Business Development Lead to build Benchmark’s business development engine from the ground up.

This is more than a sales role. You'll help define how Benchmark goes to market by identifying and developing new growth opportunities through strategic partnerships, corporate wellness programs, referral networks, and other innovative initiatives. You'll work with corporations, healthcare providers, fitness professionals, benefits providers, insurers, and community organizations to help more people discover Benchmark and become long-term members.

This is a foundational hire for our growth strategy. You'll work directly with the founders and have significant ownership over strategy, outreach, execution, and the partnerships that shape Benchmark's future.

What You'll Do

Develop and grow strategic partnerships with:

  • Employers, business owners, executives, and HR leaders
  • Personal trainers, strength coaches, gyms, and fitness studios
  • Healthcare providers, including physicians, physiotherapists, chiropractors, dietitians, nurse practitioners, and other clinicians
  • Benefits consultants, HSA providers, employee benefits brokers, insurers, and wellness platforms
  • Community organizations, sports clubs/teams, and strategic referral partners
  • Content creators & Influencers
  • Complementary health brands and wellness businesses

Build and manage a pipeline of new business opportunities through phone, email, LinkedIn, networking, and in-person meetings

Identify and cultivate “internal champions” within target organizations (Benchmark member with a positive Benchmark experience, budget influence, and willingness to advocate internally)

Book introductory meetings, talks, and workshops, including speaking engagements for our team

Follow up promptly on inbound leads so opportunities don't go cold

Track all outreach and pipeline activity in a CRM

Share market insights, customer feedback, objections, and partnership opportunities to help refine Benchmark's ideal customer profile, messaging, and go-to-market strategy

Support the planning and execution of group assessments and educational events as a packaged offering for gyms, clubs, and companies

Identify opportunities for corporate wellness programs, employee health assessments, educational workshops, and other partnership initiatives

Build a modern, AI-first business development process by leveraging CRM systems, prospecting platforms, outbound calling tools, conversation intelligence, automation, and AI to maximize outreach, pipeline growth, and efficiency

What We're Looking For

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable with high-volume outbound work and resilient in the face of rejection
  • Naturally curious, coachable, and energized by learning
  • Organized, self-directed, and able to manage your own pipeline with minimal supervision
  • Experience in B2B sales, partnerships, account management, or business development. Experience in healthcare, fitness, wellness, or employee benefits is a strong asset
  • Interest in health, wellness, or fitness is a strong plus
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable using AI to improve productivity and effectiveness
  • Experience building new markets, launching new initiatives, or working in an early-stage or high-growth environment is considered a strong asset.
  • Comfortable attending networking events and travelling throughout the GTA for meetings, presentations, and partnership development.

Compensation

Base salary plus a commission/bonus structure tied to new business generated. Specifics to be discussed based on experience and employment type.
