  • Safely work around existing underground utilities, including gas, hydro, communication, water, and sewer infrastructure.
  • Install manholes, catch basins, services, and related underground infrastructure.
  • Complete pipe connections, joint sealing, bedding, compaction, and backfilling activities.
  • Coordinate effectively with equipment operators, labourers, and supervisors to maintain project schedules.
  • Complete daily site assessments and identify potential hazards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Provide guidance and support to crew members as required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in pipe laying and civil construction preferred.
  • Strong understanding of municipal underground utility installation, including water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and drainage systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, grades, and specifications.
  • Strong knowledge of pipe installation, grade checking, bedding, compaction, and backfill requirements.
  • Experience leading or directing pipelaying activities is considered an asset.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Proven safety record and commitment to safe work practices.
  • Reliable, punctual, and hardworking.
  • Ability and willingness to work extended hours when required.
  • Willingness to work out of town on regional projects is considered an asset.
