Join a community within the community. Be part of a dedicated team that keeps our city running through essential infrastructure and forward-thinking solutions.

Why Join Us?

This is more than a job, it’s a chance to be part of something that matters. You’ll work alongside a skilled, supportive, and safety-focused team, gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of water and wastewater systems. Every day brings new challenges, opportunities to problem solve, and the satisfaction of providing a critical public service.
At CGS, we invest in your future. From training and certification opportunities to career growth and advancement, you’ll have the support you need to succeed. We also prioritize your well-being with wellness programs and a strong retirement plan to help you plan for the long term.

What You’ll Do

  • Respond to service disruptions and complete emergency repairs safely and efficiently.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair hydrants, valves, watermains, and related infrastructure.
  • Layout, assemble, install, and maintain piping systems, fixtures, and equipment.
  • Collect samples and conduct routine field and laboratory testing (e.g., pressure testing, valve inspections).
  • Monitor system performance and report defective or inoperable infrastructure.

What You Bring (Depending on Role)

  • Secondary School Diploma (Grade 12).
  • Operator in Training (OIT) certification, with the ability to obtain Water Distribution Level 1 and Wastewater Collection Level 1 certification within 18 months.
  • Experience in water/wastewater operations (minimum one year for operator level; less experience considered an asset for entry levels).
  • Knowledge of the Ontario Safe Drinking Water Act.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work and operate equipment safely.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, the public and external partners.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.
  • Valid Ontario Class G licence with an acceptable driving record.
  • Valid Ontario Class DZ driver’s licence (or ability to obtain, depending on role) with an acceptable driving record.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary
  • OMERS pension plan
  • Comprehensive benefits package (100 per cent employer paid)
  • Life insurance
