Job Overview:

The Treasury Risk Analyst is responsible for compiling and analyzing financial information to identify, evaluate, and minimize treasury risks related to interest rate, foreign currency, liquidity, and components of commodity risks. This requires thorough research and analysis, forecasting, accounting, reporting, and implementing hedging strategies while working in a team environment with other members of the Corporate Services team.

Essential Duties and responsibilities

  • Research, recommend, and implement hedging strategies to manage treasury risks related to foreign exchange, interest rates, liquidity, and applicable commodity exposures.
  • Prepare valuations, mark-to-market calculations, hedge accounting documentation, and required effectiveness testing for derivative instruments used to manage price and financial risks.
  • Monitor balance sheet and transaction exposure to foreign exchange fluctuations through detailed exposure analysis and ongoing review of hedging strategies.
  • Maintain accurate schedules and working papers for corporate debt instruments, including principal, interest, deferred financing charges, embedded derivatives, and related treasury analytics such as WACC, effective interest rates, bank fees, AR roll-forwards, lease vs. buy analysis, and interest rate swap comparisons.
  • Prepare forecasts and budgets for cash requirements, leverage, covenant ratios, accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank loans, long-term debt, and interest expense.
  • Execute competitive spot, forward, and option transactions with major financial institutions, coordinate timely settlements, and monitor compliance with debt covenants through sensitivity analysis to identify potential constraints.
  • Prepare internal and external treasury reporting, including monthly and quarterly lender packages, stakeholder reports for senior leadership, market research and commentary, accounting entries, reconciliations, workbooks, and analysis of treasury general ledger accounts.
  • Support financial statement accuracy, notes preparation, letters of credit, documentary collections, internal and external financial statement audits, and bank audits by compiling documentation, reconciling amounts, resolving discrepancies, and communicating with buyers, banks, and audit stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Finance or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Professional designation in Accounting or Finance an asset
  • Minimum of two years of experience in finance/treasury field
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including ability to communicate both orally and in writing
  • Natural interest in improving processes or automating workflows
  • Team oriented, highly collaborative and enjoys engaging with teams
  • Thoughtful about internal and external customer needs
  • Proficiency in PC applications, i.e. Word, Excel (mandatory), ReportsNow, and Oracle JD Edwards (desirable).
