The Company


B2Gold is a responsible international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, the Goose Project under construction in northern Canada, and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland.


Position


Underground Electrician, Nunavut


Location and Reporting Structure


Reporting to the Team Lead, Electrician, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.


Responsibilities


  • The overall inspection, repair, and maintenance of electrical components for mine equipment in compliance with regulations and B2Gold Nunavut's safety policies and procedures.
  • Install and maintain underground substations and pump stations.
  • Diagnose areas of improvement and /or repair and complete repairs as necessary.
  • Read, understand, and interpret prints.
  • Collaborate with site teams to identify operational requirements and improvement of the project.
  • Test and troubleshoot electrical, control, and automation systems.
  • Assist in the design, testing and start up of instrumentation and control systems.
  • Update and aid in the set-up of Electrical and Control schematics.
  • Participate in safety toolbox talks to promote compliance with B2Gold Nunavut's safety policies and procedures.


Desired Competencies and Requirements


  • Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician ticket with prior experience in industrial electrical repair and maintenance in the construction and/or mining industry.
  • Familiarity with reading electrical schematics and prints is required, with preference given to those with a working knowledge of the installation and maintenance of electrical equipment in mining operations.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and industry best practices.
  • Experience working in a remote camp setting with limited access to resources is considered an asset.


Compensation and Benefits


For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $155,025.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $56.25 and overtime rate of $84.38) in a work year.


B2Gold Nunavut offers a competitive compensation package, including salary commensurate with experience, knowledge, and skills, plus a group benefits package for employees and their dependents.
