Full job description

Status: Casual

Range: $33.46 - $35.31

Location: Riverview, Coquitlam

Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Rehab Worker is responsible for the delivery of gender specific, trauma- informed care for people who may have or have experienced homelessness; severe addictions, mental illness, trauma, family, cultural and / or community disconnection, involvement with the criminal justice, physical health and behavioral issues. The Rehab Worker will use graduated and structured client-centered interventions to help clients with transition to living in the community, integrating the principles of psychosocial rehabilitation, harm reduction, motivational enhancement, a strength-based framework, gender centered relational care, trauma-informed care and other evidence-based best practices that improve clients’ ability to function in all aspects of life.

Job Qualifications

  • Required Qualifications
  • Diploma in Community Social Service
  • Recent, related experience of two years Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience or other qualifications determined to be reasonable and relevant to the level of work
  • Ability to obtain the following upon hire:
    • Certificates in First Aid + CPR
    • WHMIS
    • Ministry of Justice Criminal Record Clearance
    • TB Clearance (done within past 6 months)
    • Foodsafe

Knowledge and Abilities

  • Ability to work with people with a mental illness.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
  • Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.
  • Ability and willingness to understand and work with adults who have been found not criminally responsible on account of a mental disorder.
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system.
  • Life skills training and experience.
  • Good organizational and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate groups.
