About the Role

Precise Downhole Solutions is looking for a driven, technically strong, and commercially focused Sales Engineer based in Calgary. This role is built for a proven technical sales professional with established contacts within the targeted oil and gas industry, a strong customer network, and a demonstrated track record of generating revenue, advancing opportunities, and closing sales.

The successful candidate must understand the Precise product and service portfolio and be capable of confidently representing the company in front of operators, engineering teams, procurement groups, field leadership, and executive decision-makers. This role requires someone who can deliver highly technical presentations, identify customer needs, position practical solutions, and convert opportunities into booked work.

This position is designed for growth. Precise is seeing increasing demand for its downhole technology, monitoring systems, and field services across North America, with a strong focus on technical sales growth in key operating regions, including the Montney and Duvernay basins.

Key Responsibilities

The Sales Engineer will be responsible for developing, managing, and growing assigned customer accounts while actively pursuing new business opportunities. This includes identifying opportunities, qualifying customer needs, presenting technical solutions, coordinating proposals, communicating project status, negotiating commercial terms, and driving opportunities through to close.

Responsibilities include:

  • Represent the full Precise Downhole Solutions product and service suite to operators, engineering teams, procurement groups, and strategic customers.
  • Leverage established industry contacts to create new sales opportunities and strengthen Precise’s position with targeted customers.
  • Grow sales activity in assigned accounts and targeted regions, including the Montney and Duvernay basins.
  • Maintain close liaison with customers throughout the full sales and project lifecycle.
  • Communicate project status, customer requirements, commercial updates, and execution priorities internally and externally.
  • Meet or exceed quarterly and annual sales targets for assigned accounts.
  • Build and maintain a strong network of operator, engineering, completions, production, reservoir, procurement, and field operations contacts.
  • Deliver technical sales presentations that clearly explain product value, field application, operational benefits, and commercial impact.
  • Translate customer challenges into practical Precise solutions, including technical scope, commercial structure, and implementation path.
  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation, discovery, qualification, technical presentation, proposal support, negotiation, and close.
  • Maintain CRM discipline, including customer notes, opportunity tracking, stage updates, follow-up actions, probability, forecast value, and close timing.
  • Use approved internal sales tools, pricing workflows, proposal templates, and reporting systems.
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, field service, project management, and leadership to ensure customer commitments are technically sound and commercially executable.
  • Support trade shows, technical conferences, customer meetings, lunch-and-learns, and industry networking events.
  • Track competitor activity, customer buying trends, project timing, and basin-level market signals.
  • Protect margin discipline while actively pursuing revenue growth.
  • Build long-term customer trust while maintaining urgency to advance and close opportunities.

Required Experience

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in technical sales, oilfield services, downhole technology, production operations, completions, reservoir monitoring, instrumentation, or related energy-sector solutions.

Required qualifications:

  • Proven track record of sales success in the oil and gas sector.
  • Established contacts within the targeted industry, including operators, engineering teams, procurement groups, and technical decision-makers.
  • Strong Calgary-based and Western Canadian operator network.
  • Demonstrated ability to close deals, grow revenue, and meet assigned sales targets.
  • Comfortable selling complex technical products and services.
  • Strong understanding of oilfield operations, downhole technologies, production challenges, completions, reservoir monitoring, or related service lines.
  • Experience delivering technical presentations to engineering, operations, procurement, and executive-level audiences.
  • Ability to manage long-cycle, multi-stakeholder sales opportunities.
  • Strong CRM discipline and sales process accountability.
  • Ability to travel for customer meetings, field visits, conferences, and regional business development across North America.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Commercially disciplined with the ability to balance customer needs, technical feasibility, pricing, margin, and execution risk.

Preferred Experience

  • Existing relationships in the Montney, Duvernay, Deep Basin, Bakken, Permian, or broader North American energy markets.
  • Experience with downhole instrumentation, permanent gauges, fiber optics, production diagnostics, gas lift, completions, drilling services, reservoir monitoring, artificial lift, or field technology sales.
  • Engineering, petroleum technology, geoscience, instrumentation, or technical diploma/degree background.
  • Experience selling both products and services.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms, sales dashboards, proposal workflows, and structured pipeline reporting.

Candidate Profile

This role is best suited for a technical salesperson who is credible in front of engineers, trusted by customers, and effective in front of commercial decision-makers. The successful candidate must be able to listen, diagnose, challenge, present, negotiate, and close.

We are looking for someone who is:

  • A proven sales performer — has a clear history of generating opportunities, advancing accounts, and closing business.
  • Well connected — brings established contacts within the targeted oil and gas industry.
  • A hunter and closer — actively pursues new business, creates urgency, advances opportunities, and asks for the order.
  • Technically credible — understands customer problems and can explain complex technology in practical field terms.
  • Direct and results-oriented — focused on revenue, margin, customer value, and execution.
  • Disciplined with follow-up — maintains CRM accuracy, keeps opportunities moving, and does not let leads go cold.
  • Customer-facing and accountable — communicates clearly, maintains close customer contact, and follows through on commitments.
  • Comfortable selling into complexity — able to manage technical, operational, procurement, and commercial stakeholders.
  • Strategic and relationship-driven — builds trust while still driving toward measurable outcomes.
  • Resilient — handles rejection, long sales cycles, competitive pressure, and changing customer priorities.
  • Commercially sharp — understands pricing, margin, scope control, and negotiation leverage.
  • Self-motivated — does not require constant direction to create activity, build pipeline, and close business.
