Job Overview

A well-established company in the Grande Prairie region is seeking an experienced accounting professional to manage its day-to-day accounting operations. This is a hands-on role requiring someone who is comfortable working independently and managing multiple accounting functions with accuracy and attention to detail. This is not an entry-level or bookkeeping position.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day accounting transactions.
  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable.
  • Administer payroll and maintain payroll records.
  • Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Maintain the general ledger and ensure transactions are recorded accurately.
  • Monitor cash receipts, deposits, and vendor payments.
  • Maintain organized electronic accounting records and supporting documentation.
  • Communicate with vendors, customers, financial institutions, and external advisors as required.
  • Assist with month-end procedures and provide supporting documentation for year-end working papers.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies while maintaining accurate accounting records.
  • Support management with day-to-day accounting information and other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in full-cycle accounting.
  • Strong working knowledge of accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and account reconciliations.
  • Experience using accounting software and Microsoft Excel.
  • Thorough understanding of Canadian payroll and GST requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Professional, dependable, and able to maintain confidentiality.
