Are you looking to gain hands-on experience in a fast-paced, supportive veterinary environment? Oakbank Animal Hospital is looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Veterinary Assistant/Receptionist to join our team on a casual basis—perfect for students balancing school and work.

About Us
Oakbank Animal Hospital is a busy, multi-doctor practice serving a diverse caseload including small animals, exotics, and hobby farm patients. We pride ourselves on delivering high-quality patient care while fostering a positive, team-oriented workplace where learning and growth are encouraged.

What You’ll Do
This dual-role position offers the opportunity to build both clinical and client care skills:

Reception Duties:

  • Greet and assist clients in a friendly, professional manner
  • Answer phones, schedule appointments, and manage inquiries
  • Process payments and maintain accurate client records
  • Support efficient front-desk flow during busy periods

Assistant Duties:

  • Support RVTs and DVMs with patient handling and restraint
  • Assist with appointments and procedures as needed
  • Prepare exam rooms and maintain cleanliness throughout the clinic
  • Help with basic patient care under supervision
  • General clinic organization and stocking supplies

What We’re Looking For

  • Current RVT/Animal Health/VOA student (preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player with a strong work ethic
  • Comfortable working with a variety of species (or eager to learn!)

Schedule

  • Casual position
  • Evening shifts and Saturdays required
