Russell Hendrix Foodservice Equipment is looking for a CAD Designer to join our Quest Metal manufacturing team in Winnipeg. Quest Metal products is our in-house manufacturing division, producing custom stainless steel fabrications and gas appliances, and the CAD Designer is at the heart of bringing those products to life.

This role works in close, real-time collaboration with both the Layout team and the shop floor, making it a great fit for someone who thrives in a hands-on manufacturing environment. If you have a background in CAD design in a sheet metal or similar manufacturing setting, or have made the transition from a trade into design, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Do

  • Prepare and update installation drawings for projects
  • Prepare model, assembly, manufacturing, and two-dimensional metal layout drawings for custom stainless steel equipment
  • Generate complete and accurate Autodesk Inventor drawings and metal layout drawings from AutoCAD and/or hand-drawn sketches
  • Incorporate best shop assembly practices into Inventor drawings to maximize fabrication efficiencies in time and materials
  • Ensure completed Inventor drawings include a complete Bill of Materials for each fabricated fixture, including non-sheet metal components
  • Revise and update existing drawings to reflect design changes
  • Maintain notes, design calculations, and supporting documentation for completed drawings for future reference
  • Work with the CAD Design Supervisor and shop floor team to establish guidelines for installation and shop drawings that meet and exceed customer requirements
  • Implement customer requirements on drawings submitted during the customer-facing phase of projects
  • Perform other related duties as required

Where You'll Work

This is a full-time, onsite role based at the Quest manufacturing facility in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Day-to-day, you'll work in close coordination with the Layout team and the manufacturing team in a dynamic environment where your drawings directly inform what gets built on the shop floor.

What You Bring

Education and Experience

  • 2+ years of experience as a CAD designer in a similar industry or sheet metal manufacturing environment
  • Alternatively, 4+ years of experience as a CAD designer in a manufacturing environment will be considered
  • Experience working closely alongside a shop floor or manufacturing team is a strong asset
  • Candidates who have transitioned from a trade background into CAD design are encouraged to apply
  • Experience in stainless steel kitchen equipment is considered an asset

Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software, specifically Autodesk Inventor/Vault or similar parametric modeling software
  • Ability to read and work from AutoCAD drawings
  • Ability to generate model and layout drawings from sketches and customer specifications
  • Strong understanding of general design principles, drafting standards, and manufacturing techniques
  • High attention to detail and personal pride in the quality and completeness of work output
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a logical, solutions-focused approach
  • Effective communicator and collaborative team player
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and general PC usage
