Full job description

Overview

The Senior Electrical QA/QC Coordinator is responsible for leading, managing, and maintaining the project electrical quality assurance and quality control framework on site. Reporting functionally to the Site Superintendent (with quality alignment to corporate QA/QC governance), this senior role bridges the gap between engineering specifications, field execution, and client handover. The position owns the complete electrical QA/QC workflow—from upfront IFC drawing reviews and RFI coordination to witnessing critical high-voltage/medium-voltage testing, auditing subcontractor installations, managing NCR/CAPA logs in Bluebeam Revu, and compiling final client turnover packages. The Senior Electrical QAQC Coordinator ensures all electrical work strictly complies with approved drawings, project specifications, the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), SaskPower requirements, and Saskatchewan mining and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, track, and close out project-specific electrical Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), hold-point checklists, NCRs, and site punch lists
  • Establish and maintain digital QA/QC tracking systems (using Bluebeam Revu and QA tracking software) to ensure timely closure of non-conformances
  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) investigations on non-conformances and drive implementation of Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
  • Build, audit, and organize comprehensive client turnover and commissioning dossiers—including insulation resistance/hi-pot test sheets, torque records, calibrated tool logs, redlines, as-built drawings, and completion certificates

Technical Review & RFI Management

  • Perform detailed upfront constructability reviews of IFC electrical single-line diagrams, elementary schematics, wiring diagrams, site layouts, and cable schedules
  • Identify engineering gaps, scope overlaps, or code conflicts prior to construction, drafting precise Requests for Information (RFIs) to prevent field re-work
  • Coordinate third-party inspection authorities (SaskPower / local electrical inspectors), client QA auditors, and specialized testing sub-contractors for site permits and mandatory hold-point sign-offs
  • Audit and inspect subcontractor and site crew installations for compliance with drawings, manufacturer instructions, and project specifications, covering:

- Power distribution, MCCs, switchgear, VFDs, and power/control transformers;

- Cable tray fill/loading, conduit runs, cable pull schedules, bend radiuses,

and MV/HV/LV terminations

- Grounding grids, bonding loops, and earth-resistance testing

- Lighting, heat tracing circuits, and control panels

- Instrumentation interfaces and control cable wiring

  • Inspect and sign off on electrical embeds, underground duct banks, and equipment pad foundations prior to concrete placement
  • Witness, verify, and document field electrical testing, including insulation resistance (Megger), continuity, ground grid resistance, high-potential (Hi-pot) testing, VLF testing, and functional loop checks.
  • Perform regular site walkthroughs to verify adherence to safe electrical practices, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), arc flash boundaries (CSA Z462), temporary power systems, and energized work permits
  • Ensure workplace activities comply with Stratus Origins and client policies, The Saskatchewan Employment Act, OHS Regulations, and Mines Regulations
  • Participate actively in site toolbox talks, hazard assessments, and electrical incident/near-miss investigations.

Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, you will possess the following skills, attributes, and abilities:

  • Interprovincial Red Seal Journeyperson Electrician OR Certified Electrical Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) diploma
  • Valid safety certifications (or willingness to obtain prior to site mobilization) including Standard First Aid / CPR, WHMIS, Fall Protection, Arc Flash / High Voltage Safety (CSA Z462)
  • Strong documentation and communication skills
  • Expert proficiency in Bluebeam Revu, Microsoft Office Suite, and digital QA/QC tracking tools
  • Valid driver's license with clean abstract

Experience

  • 8–10+ years of heavy industrial electrical construction experience, with at least 3–5 years in a Senior QA/QC Coordinator, Quality Lead, or QA Specialist role
  • Expert working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC Part 1), CSA standards, SaskPower requirements, and Saskatchewan provincial mining and safety regulations
  • Demonstrated experience operating and evaluating industrial electrical testing equipment and interpreting field test reports
  • Proven track record writing ITPs, managing NCR/CAPA workflows, and building final client turnover dossiers
  • Prior mining, potash, uranium, or remote industrial camp site experience (FIFO/TITO)
  • Familiarity with nuclear-regulated environments (CNSC quality management standards / CSA N286) and NETA acceptance testing standards is a strong asset

Working Conditions & Physical Demands:

  • Site Environment: Remote site placement with full camp accommodation. Travel arranged via fly-in/fly-out (FIFO) or bus travel-in/travel-out (TITO)
  • Physical Demands: Requires walking uneven industrial terrain, climbing stairs/scaffolding, entering confined spaces, and conducting field inspections in cold/extreme northern winter conditions while wearing full PPE

Benefits:

  • Company events

  • Employee assistance program
  • Extended health care
  • Life insurance
  • RRSP match
  • Vision care
