Position Overview

This position for the Category Manager for Nature’s Source. The Category Manager is responsible for the purchasing and selling of all products carried by Nature’s Source.Detailed responsibilities are covered in the following job description.

Education & Experience

  • Must Have: University Degree / College Degree; Major: Business, General
  • Type of Experience: Purchasing, Retail, CPG, Other
  • Asset: Health, Science, Nutrition Knowledge
  • Years of Experience: 2 – 5 years

Requirements

  • Available to travel between retail store locations
  • Ability to attend trade shows and events as requested
  • Monday to Friday 9 to 6 in addition to Trade Shows, Consumer Shows and seasonal demands.

Vendor Management and Relationships

  • Negotiation of Costs – maximize discounts, rebates volume purchases and delivery times
  • Communicate purchasing plans to store’s
  • Develop and manage a vendor management database
  • Selection of products
  • Retail sales

Purchasing and Inventory Management

  • Place appropriate orders to ensure product availability meets demand
  • Maintain online purchasing and inventory system – update daily
  • Conduct regular cycle counts & reordering process
  • Management of all inventory and turnover, includes expired, excesses, inter store transfers and supplier returns.
  • Management of Departments, productivity. Includes SKU analysis, department and category, vendor analysis.
  • Foster relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of service
  • Retail gross profit – includes everyday pricing, feature pricing and gross margins, price increases and decreases
  • Manage inventory across all retail locations; monitor stock levels
  • Product Selection – Listings, de-listings, initial purchases.
  • Flyer and advertised specials, in-store specials, selection of products and pricing.
  • Develop Exit strategies for unsuccessful products
  • Identify industry and consumer trends
  • Buying for Consumer shows – selection of products, new orders, transfer of store stock.
  • Preparation for all supplier meetings, including vendor detail sheets, system snap shots, necessary analysis and preparation.
  • Wholesaler review – which wholesaler and for which products, Bi monthly review.
  • Co-op negotiation, liaise with marketing to determine competitive pricing and promotional activities
