The Opportunity

Tanner Equipment Services is seeking a skilled Forklift Field Technician to join our team. This role is responsible for delivering high-quality workmanship, consistent service, and strong technical knowledge directly to our customers. You will perform all tasks related to testing, diagnosing, repairs and maintenance of Forklifts, MEWP and other material handling equipment, primarily on-site at customer locations.

The Role

  • Diagnose and repair electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems
  • Service and repair equipment on-site at customer locations.
  • Perform maintenance and safety inspections to manufacturer standards.
  • Communicate with customers
  • Maintain accurate service records, complete work orders and order parts
  • Establish and maintain strong working relationships with customers through professional and reliable service.
  • Comply with all Health & Safety requirements, field hazard assessments, and company / site procedures.
  • Maintain company service vehicle, tools, and a professional image.
  • Perform housekeeping duties and contribute to a safe, organized work environment.
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends as required.

The Candidate

  • Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of field service experience working with forklifts (electric, propane, diesel).
  • Education: Technical diploma, trade certification, or enrollment in a related apprenticeship program is an asset. Welding experience is an asset
  • Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with experience diagnosing and repairing forklifts.
  • Solid understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and manage time effectively.
  • Proficient with service documentation and basic computer/online support systems.
  • Other: Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.

Compensation

Hourly rate is negotiable and will be based on the candidate’s experience, technical expertise, and industry knowledge. Overtime pay is available for hours worked beyond the standard schedule.
