Confidential – Manufacturing Project & Process Engineer

Location: Toronto, Ontario

Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: $80,000–$90,000, based on experience

A well-established automotive manufacturing company in the Toronto area is seeking a Manufacturing Project & Process Engineer to join its engineering team.

This is a hands-on position combining manufacturing/process engineering with project management responsibilities. The successful candidate will support manufacturing projects, process improvements, equipment installations and new product/process initiatives while working closely with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

Manage assigned manufacturing and engineering projects from planning through implementation.

Develop and maintain project schedules, action plans, milestones and deliverables.

Coordinate projects involving equipment, tooling, manufacturing processes and suppliers.

Support new equipment and process installations, commissioning, trials and production readiness.

Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to increase productivity, quality and efficiency.

Identify opportunities to reduce cycle time, downtime, scrap and manufacturing costs.

Troubleshoot manufacturing and process issues and lead root-cause analysis.

Coordinate corrective actions and follow through to completion.

Support continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives.

Develop and maintain process documentation, work instructions and procedures.

Work closely with Engineering, Production, Quality, Maintenance, Tool & Die and Materials.

Coordinate with external equipment manufacturers, integrators, contractors and suppliers.

Monitor project schedules, costs and outstanding actions.

Prepare project updates and presentations for management.

Support customer and supplier activities related to assigned projects.

Ensure process changes and projects meet safety, quality and operational requirements.

Qualifications

Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or a related discipline.

2–4 years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.

Experience supporting or managing manufacturing projects.

Strong manufacturing process and continuous improvement experience.

Strong analytical, troubleshooting and root-cause problem-solving skills.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

Strong organizational and project coordination skills.

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and other business applications.

Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Automotive manufacturing experience is a strong asset.

Experience with stamping, welding, robotics, automation or related manufacturing processes is an asset.

Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 5S, APQP, PFMEA and automotive quality systems is an asset.

Travel

Occasional travel may be required to suppliers, customers, equipment manufacturers or other locations based on project requirements.
