The Opportunity

We are seeking a hands-on Senior MSP Project Engineer to lead and deliver IT infrastructure projects for small and medium-sized business clients.

This is a project-focused role for an experienced engineer who enjoys taking ownership of technical engagements, working directly with clients and remaining actively involved throughout implementation. Projects will include Microsoft 365 migrations, Windows Server and Active Directory upgrades, virtualization, networking and hybrid cloud infrastructure.

Recent experience working within a Managed Service Provider or client-facing IT services environment is required. Candidates must be comfortable supporting multiple client environments and independently delivering infrastructure projects from discovery and planning through implementation, documentation and handoff.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead SMB infrastructure projects from discovery and technical planning through implementation, cutover, documentation and client handoff.
  • Plan and complete Microsoft 365 migrations involving Exchange Online, SharePoint, OneDrive and tenant-to-tenant environments.
  • Design, deploy, upgrade and migrate Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID and hybrid cloud environments.
  • Deliver server replacement, upgrade and virtualization projects using VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Configure and troubleshoot firewalls, switches, wireless access points, VLANs, routing and VPNs.
  • Conduct technical assessments and recommend practical solutions based on client requirements, security, performance and scalability.
  • Lead onsite and remote deployments while coordinating vendors, resolving technical issues and minimizing disruption to client operations.
  • Communicate directly with clients, executives, vendors and internal stakeholders throughout project delivery.
  • Create and maintain accurate technical documentation, including network diagrams, configurations, implementation procedures and client environment records.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.

Required Experience

  • Five or more years of hands-on experience within an MSP or client-facing IT services environment.
  • Demonstrated experience independently delivering infrastructure projects for multiple SMB clients.
  • Strong experience deploying and supporting Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Experience completing SharePoint, OneDrive and email migrations.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, Entra ID and hybrid environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Fortinet and/or SonicWall firewalls.
  • Strong networking knowledge, including VLANs, VPNs, routing, switching and wireless infrastructure.
  • Experience delivering virtualization migrations or upgrades using VMware and/or Hyper-V.
  • Ability to independently lead onsite deployments and work directly with clients.
  • Strong troubleshooting, documentation and client communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Ubiquiti switching and wireless products.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Intune and endpoint management.
  • Experience deploying or supporting 3CX VoIP.
  • PowerShell, scripting or infrastructure automation experience.
  • Microsoft, Fortinet or other relevant technical certifications.

What Success Looks Like

You will independently deliver reliable infrastructure projects while maintaining strong technical standards, clear documentation and effective client communication.

You will anticipate project risks, solve complex technical problems and know when to collaborate, escalate or engage additional resources. You will also contribute to the wider technical team by sharing knowledge, mentoring junior colleagues and helping maintain consistent standards across project delivery.
