Full job description

TESC is seeking an experienced Project Planner & Scheduler for a long-term, project-based assignment at a remote construction site in Saskatchewan.

This is an 18–24 month contract, camp-based position working a 16-days-on / 12-days-off rotation. The 16-day rotation includes two travel days, one travelling to site and one returning home.

The successful candidate will bring strong construction knowledge, hands-on planning and scheduling experience, and advanced proficiency in Primavera P6. This role requires someone who understands field execution and can translate project requirements into practical, accurate, and achievable construction schedules.

Working closely with Project Management, field leadership, Project Controls, clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders, the Project Planner & Scheduler will play an important role in supporting project planning, execution, and schedule performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop, maintain, update, and analyze detailed construction schedules using Primavera P6.
  • Develop baseline and look-ahead schedules that reflect project scope, construction sequencing, key milestones, resources, procurement requirements, and contractual commitments.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, and field teams to develop realistic construction plans and sequencing based on project conditions.
  • Monitor project progress, identify schedule variances, constraints, delays, and emerging risks, and assess impacts to the critical path.
  • Identify scheduling conflicts and work with the project team to develop mitigation strategies, corrective actions, and recovery plans.
  • Incorporate procurement, submittals, work sequencing, testing, commissioning, start-up, and closeout activities into project schedules.
  • Collect and validate schedule information from internal teams, clients, consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Prepare schedule updates, forecasts, progress reports, look-ahead plans, and schedule performance information.
  • Participate in project planning, coordination, and progress meetings, clearly communicating schedule status, risks, priorities, and required actions.
  • Review drawings, specifications, estimates, contracts, and other project documentation to understand scope, sequencing, and scheduling requirements.
  • Analyze schedule performance and provide practical recommendations to support project delivery and resource utilization.

What You Bring

  • Minimum five (5) years of project planning and scheduling experience, preferably within industrial or heavy construction.
  • University degree or college diploma in Construction Management, Engineering, Engineering Technology, Project Controls, Project Management, or a related discipline.
  • An equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and technical experience may be considered.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6 and Microsoft Excel is required.
  • Strong construction knowledge with a practical understanding of field execution, construction sequencing, resources, productivity, and project constraints.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, maintain, analyze, and communicate detailed construction schedules.
  • Strong planning capabilities with the ability to think ahead, anticipate constraints and identify schedule risks before they impact execution.
  • Strong knowledge of critical path scheduling, project controls, schedule analysis, and performance measurement.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, contracts, estimates, and other project documentation.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess schedule impacts and develop practical solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external stakeholders.
