Company Overview

Frankie's Organic Foods is a manufacturer of snack products, from babies to adults. We specialize in extruded snacking and are looking for a qualified Specialist who understands Twin Screw Extrusion.

The Extrusion Process Specialist will be responsible for operating, troubleshooting and optimizing food extrusion processes on our twin-screw extrusion systems.

This role is ideal for someone with experience in food extrusion, cereal processing, snack manufacturing, pet food, ingredient processing, or another mechanically intensive food production environment who enjoys solving technical challenges and improving manufacturing performance.

Candidates with strong single-screw extrusion experience or related food processing expertise who are eager to learn twin-screw technology are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and optimize twin-screw extrusion equipment
  • Assist with installation, commissioning and start-up of new extrusion systems
  • Monitor critical processing parameters including:
  • Moisture
  • Temperature
  • Screw speed
  • Feed rates
  • Pressure
  • Product density
  • Expansion
  • Troubleshoot processing issues and implement corrective actions
  • Work closely with R&D during product development and scale-up trials
  • Recommend improvements to formulations and processing conditions
  • Perform equipment changeovers, sanitation and preventive maintenance
  • Collaborate with maintenance teams to diagnose mechanical issues
  • Maintain production records and process documentation
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, quality and GMP requirements
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, efficiency and product quality
  • Train production operators on best practices and standard operating procedures

Qualifications Required

Diploma or Bachelor's degree in:

  • Food Science
  • Food Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Manufacturing Engineering
  • Process Engineering
  • or related discipline

OR

Equivalent industry experience in food manufacturing.

Experience

  • 3+ years working in food manufacturing
  • Experience operating industrial processing equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Experience troubleshooting production equipment
  • Comfortable adjusting processing parameters to optimize product quality

Preferred

Experience with one or more of:

  • Twin-screw extrusion
  • Single-screw extrusion
  • Expanded snacks
  • Breakfast cereals
  • Baby food manufacturing
  • Pet food extrusion
  • Protein extrusion
  • Ingredient processing
  • Dry blending systems
  • Conveying systems
  • PLC/HMI controls
