Full job description

Job Title: Senior Product Designer (Website & Applications)

Who We Are:

PakFactory is a custom packaging platform built on structural complexity — rigid boxes, hinged closures, magnetic snaps, premium finishes, child-resistant construction — the kinds of work that require real manufacturing relationships, design expertise, and production discipline to execute well.

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Markham, Ontario, we operate a cloud-based platform that connects brand customers across North America with a global manufacturing network. Over 5,000 brands trust us with their packaging — and that trust compounds with every production run. We are on a deliberate path from a design-led service business toward a platform economy player, building the operational infrastructure and data advantages that create durable competitive moats at scale.

The Opportunity:

PakFactory is on a deliberate path from a design-led service business to a platform at scale — and the quality of our product experience is central to that trajectory. You’ll be the design standard-bearer: shipping excellent product design for our platform’s core flows (quoting, ordering, account management, customer/vendor portal), and setting the visual and interaction standards that the whole team works to.

This isn’t a role where you’ll be handed a finished design system and told to fill in screens. The platform is expanding — reorder automation, design collaboration tools, supplier-facing interfaces, and self-serve for premium packaging — and you’re building the design foundation it all runs on.

Key Responsibilities:

Product design — platform features

  • Own the end-to-end design of PakFactory’s core platform flows: quoting, ordering, customization, account management, and supplier-facing tools
  • Translate complex B2B purchasing logic into clean, intuitive experiences
  • Collaborate directly with the tech lead from discovery through dev handoff — specs, edge cases, acceptance criteria
  • Run lightweight user research and usability tests to inform decisions

Design system & standards

  • Build and maintain PakFactory’s component library and design system in Figma
  • Define interaction patterns, spacing systems, and visual language that the whole team uses
  • Ensure consistency across the platform, marketing website, and the broader product surface as we scale

Design leadership & mentorship

  • Mentor and give structured feedback to two junior UX designers
  • Set quality standards — run design critiques, establish review rituals, raise the floor across every screen
  • Partner with the (forthcoming) PM hire to maintain a well-sequenced design backlog

Website & marketing design

  • Contribute to the design direction of the marketing website and high-visibility brand moments
  • Collaborate with the marketing and content team on design quality for high-visibility moments
  • This is a secondary focus — platform design comes first

Who You are:

You have 5+ years of product design experience, with a portfolio that shows real complexity — transactional flows, B2B SaaS, dashboards, or marketplace products. Not just marketing pages.

  • You’ve built or meaningfully contributed to a design system — you can show before/after
  • You design in Figma with auto-layout, component variants, and dev mode as second nature
  • You understand how your designs become code — you speak the tech lead’s language
  • You’ve mentored or given structured feedback to junior designers and you enjoy it
  • You can operate with ambiguity and structure your own work — this isn’t a role with heavy PM oversight
  • You think in systems, not screens — you ask “what’s the pattern” before you ask “what does this look like”
  • Bonus: experience in ecommerce, supply chain, or B2B purchasing flows
  • Bonus: motion design or micro-interaction skills for the website track

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00-$90,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Casual dress
  • Company events
  • On-site parking
  • Paid time off
