Job details
Full job description
ICO Bath is a growing company specializing in premium bathroom products, including mirrors, medicine cabinets, towel warmers, and bathroom accessories. We source products internationally and distribute them to customers across Canada and the United States.
We are looking for a capable, analytical, and detail-oriented Inventory Planner & Buyer to take ownership of our inbound supply chain, from demand forecasting and purchasing through international freight and warehouse receipt.
This is a hands-on role for someone who understands how inventory planning and purchasing work in practice. You will be responsible for ensuring the right products are available in the right locations at the right time, while balancing customer demand, supplier lead times, freight costs, and inventory investment. We need someone who can manage the day-to-day details accurately while also recognizing problems, identifying opportunities, and improving how things are done.
Key Responsibilities
Inventory Planning & Forecasting:
- Maintain and manage inventory forecasts, replenishment plans, supplier lead times, and stocking parameters.
- Monitor demand, inventory levels, and planning exceptions to prevent stockouts and unnecessary overstock.
- Develop purchasing plans that account for seasonality, changing demand, new products, promotions, and supplier shutdowns.
- Manage inventory availability across Canadian and US warehouses.
- Identify slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory and recommend corrective action.
- Maintain accurate and consistent planning data across SAP Business One and inventory planning systems.
Purchasing & Supplier Management:
- Manage purchase orders with international suppliers, ensuring orders are placed accurately and on schedule.
- Follow up with suppliers to confirm production status, shipping dates, quantities, and delivery commitments.
- Balance minimum order quantities, volume discounts, freight utilization, and inventory costs when determining order quantities.
- Monitor open purchase orders and proactively address delays before they affect product availability.
- Maintain purchasing forecasts, committed spend, and expected inventory receipts.
- Verify supplier pricing and resolve discrepancies between purchase orders and invoices.
- Build productive supplier relationships while holding vendors accountable for quality, accuracy, and delivery commitments.
International Logistics & Importing:
- Coordinate international and domestic freight by ocean, air, and ground.
- Work with freight forwarders, carriers, customs brokers, and warehouse teams to manage inbound shipments.
- Prepare and verify shipping documentation and coordinate customs clearance.
- Track shipments from supplier dispatch through warehouse receipt.
- Resolve freight delays, customs issues, and discrepancies that could affect delivery schedules.
- Maintain accurate shipment tracking and lead-time information.
Problem Solving & Continuous Improvement:
- Investigate supplier shortages, incorrect shipments, quality issues, packaging discrepancies, and late deliveries.
- Track supplier claims and credits through to resolution.
- Identify recurring problems, analyze their underlying causes, and implement practical solutions.
- Review purchasing and inventory data to identify patterns, inefficiencies, risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
- Recommend improvements to systems, processes, and supplier performance.
- Communicate inventory risks, delays, and other material issues to the appropriate team members early.
What We're Looking For:
We are more interested in what you have actually done and how you approach problems than in a long list of credentials.
Required Experience:
- At least 3 years of relevant experience in inventory planning and purchasing.
- Experience working for a distributor, wholesaler, importer, or manufacturer managing a broad product range and purchasing from overseas suppliers.
- Hands-on responsibility for forecasting, replenishment, purchase orders, and supplier follow-up.
- Direct experience coordinating international freight, shipments, and import documentation.
- Experience working with long supplier lead times, minimum order quantities, and changing demand.
- Comfortable working with ERP systems, planning software, and Excel.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with SAP Business One.
- Experience with Slim4 or another demand planning and inventory optimization system.
- Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data validation.
- Post-secondary education in supply chain management, business, logistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Pay: From $75,000.00 per year
Benefits:
- On-site parking
- Profit sharing
Work Location: In person
