Position Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Procurement and Inventory Control, Manager to lead and oversee the Procurement team and to support the management of inventory controls and accounting. This role works cross-functionally within all areas of the organisation ensuring production inventory requirements and financial controls are met, all while ensuring support of working capital goals. Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this position plays a key role in supporting operational efficiency and strategic business objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement/Supplier Management

  • Oversee and facilitate the company’s procurement and purchasing functions for materials, parts, consumables, and services supporting all areas of the organisation.
  • Research components, materials, and suppliers to evaluate quality, cost, availability, and overall value
  • Identify and implement strategic sourcing opportunities to improve supplier performance and increase company value
  • Solicit bids as required, negotiate supplier contracts, and ensure management and compliance with contractual terms and conditions
  • Manage vendor relationships ensuring development and monitoring of supplier performance metrics, including price, delivery, quality, and service performance
  • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives aligned with company strategic objectives
  • Research and evaluate potential new vendors, including performing supplier risk analysis
  • Track purchase orders and ensure timely delivery of products and materials
  • Ensure Inventory holdings align with Working Capital management objectives

Inventory Control & Operations

  • Support development and maintenance of bills of materials (BOMs)
  • Coordinate with Sales, Procurement, Distribution, and Operations teams to optimize inventory levels (JIT) and support production requirements
  • Review, approve, and reconcile inventory adjustment transactions
  • Analyze/Manage inventory trends, turnover rates/working capital rate performance, variances, and obsolescence risks
  • Support regular cycle counts and physical inventory activities, including discrepancy investigation and resolution
  • Maintain accurate inventory records within ERP and inventory management systems including managing min/max/safety stock levels by sku
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to inventory control, operational efficiency, and reporting accuracy

Finance & Reporting

  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes
  • Prepare financial and operational reports related to inventory holdings, production activity costing, warehouse operations, procurement performance, and inventory trends for Management and Board reporting
  • Support month-end, year-end, and audit-related accounting requirements
  • Recommend and implement improvements to inventory tracking and controls, reporting, and ERP system processes
  • Develop dashboards and reports using tools such as Power BI, Excel, SAP Query, or similar platforms

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field
  • A recognised Supply Chain designation is an asset (CPIM, CSCP, SCMP)
  • A recognized accounting designation is considered an asset
  • 5-15 years of experience in, purchasing, procurement, inventory management and forecasting, finance, all while in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding, and hands on application in an ERP (SAP is a plus) with inventory and vendor management module experience, procurement practices, manufacturing accounting principles, and cost accounting
  • Experience negotiating supplier agreements and managing vendor relationships

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with data visualization and reporting tools such as Power BI, SAP Query, and advanced Excel
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and process improvement skills
  • Knowledge of internal control procedures, audit processes, and procurement best practices
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with strong cross-functional collaboration and leadership abilities
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Demonstrated leadership capability and experience managing teams

Work Environment

  • Combination of office, warehouse, and production facility environments
  • Ability to lift up to 25 kg during on-site inventory checks
  • Fast-paced manufacturing environment requiring responsiveness to operational and production needs
  • Interaction with suppliers, vendors, and production teams to support procurement and operational priorities

Compensation

  • $80,000 - $100,000.00 per year based on experience
