Full job description

For over 35 years, AMGAS Services Inc. has been the industry leader in emission control solutions for the oil and gas sector. Specializing in H2S and noxious emission control, we offer a comprehensive line of equipment and chemical solutions. Our dedicated commitment to safety, innovation, the environment, and client satisfaction has earned us a reputation as a trusted partner across the energy sector.

Our vision is an uncompromised dedication to safeguarding human life, the environment, and trust. Our mission is simple: Out-Serve. Out-Listen. Out-Care. Out-Do. – It is how we show up for our customers and each other, every day.

The Opportunity

As Senior Project Engineer, you'll own the technical design leadership behind AMGAS's H₂S management, hydrocarbon treatment, oil treatment, and emissions control solutions — from proposal through commissioning. You'll lead complex process design and engineering calculations, direct the preparation of P&ID's, specifications, and control philosophy, and set the technical direction for project teams, with a strong instrumentation and electrical (I&E) component woven into every design decision.

You'll be the technical anchor from sales handover through project completion — working closely with vendors, clients, and internal project, field, and operations teams to keep designs on spec, on schedule, and on budget, while mentoring the next generation of process engineers.

What You Will Do

  • Lead process design, engineering calculations, and equipment sizing for gas, hydrocarbon, oil, and water treatment systems, applying regulatory codes, customer specifications, and industry best practices
  • Provide senior technical oversight for AMGAS projects from proposal through commissioning in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Develop, review, and approve P&ID's, layouts, process specifications, and control philosophy documents — integrating instrumentation and electrical (I&E) requirements, including instrument selection and control loop philosophy
  • Lead technical selection and specification of process and packaged equipment, and maintain the AMGAS engineering database to reflect current best practice
  • Manage collaboration and liaison with vendors and suppliers, including review of vendor drawings and technical submittals
  • Ensure compliance with customer-required documentation, codes, regulatory standards, and applicable safety and quality requirements
  • Review and stamp engineering deliverables where applicable under P. Eng authority
  • Provide technical mentorship and review of work produced by intermediate and junior process engineers
  • Support scheduling, scope management, and cost estimating for equipment, materials, and project budgets
  • Communicate design updates, changes, and technical decisions to project, sales, and operations stakeholders
  • Design tailored process solutions and lead scope adjustments for complex or non-standard customer requirements
  • Build and maintain effective client and stakeholder relationships, and provide senior-level technical support to operations, field engineering, and sales as required

What You Bring

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical, Process, or Chemical Engineering (or closely related discipline), with a professional engineering designation (P. Eng.) in good standing
  • 10 – 15 years of progressive process/mechanical/chemical engineering experience, ideally within oil & gas, H₂S management, or emissions/chemical treatment services
  • Strong background in Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) engineering — instrument selection, control philosophy, and process/electrical interface design — with demonstrated experience leading process design from concept through commissioning in a multi-disciplinary environment
  • Field/operations experience, fabrication/manufacturing knowledge, and project cost-estimating experience all considered strong assets
  • Strong vendor and client relationship-building skills, with excellent verbal and written communication to influence customers and internal stakeholders
  • Strong computer skills including AutoCAD, Excel, and Word; familiarity with HYSYS, SolidWorks, and instrumentation/electrical design tools an asset
  • Strategic thinking, planning, and mentorship skills to guide junior engineering staff

Why Work With AMGAS?

  • 35+ years as an industry leader in emission control solutions.
  • Competitive Salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • Supportive and safety-driven work culture.
  • Opportunities for professional growth and development.
