Project Manager/Engineer – Baymag Inc.

Location: Alberta, Canada

Job Type: Full-Time

Industry: Industrial Minerals / Manufacturing / Engineering

Baymag is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-grade magnesium oxide based on one of the purest crystalline magnesite deposits ever discovered. We specialize in producing high grade MgO solutions to meet our clients' needs, from water treatment, soil remediation to a wide range of industrial and agricultural applications. This role is critical in ensuring smooth, safe, and efficient plant performance while upholding our commitment to quality, safety, and continuous improvement.

This position is located in Exshaw, Alberta. Candidates must be able to relocate or reliably commute to Exshaw. At Baymag, we live and work in the communities in which we operate.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Management & Execution

· Lead capital projects focused on mechanical systems and equipment upgrades.

· Develop and manage project scope, budget, schedule, and deliverables.

· Prepare technical specifications, cost estimates, and procurement documentation.

· Oversee contractor/vendor performance and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.

· Track milestones, manage RFIs, change orders, and progress payments.

· Equipment & Process Optimization

· Collaborate with operations and maintenance to identify and implement productivity-enhancing upgrades.

· Support commissioning and integration of new systems.

· Apply FMEA and root cause analysis for continuous improvement.

· Engineering & Design

· Provide input on mechanical system design and equipment selection.

· Review and approve engineering drawings and specifications.

· Ensure accurate project documentation and compliance with permitting and inspection requirements.

Compliance & Safety

· Ensure adherence to ASME, CSA, and other regulatory standards.

· Support risk assessments and safety reviews for new installations.

Stakeholder Engagement

· Communicate regularly with internal teams and senior leadership.

· Deliver technical reports and project updates.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.

· 5–7 years of project experience; direct construction experience preferred.

· Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (pumps, compressors, conveyors, etc.).

· Proficient in SAP (preferred), AutoCAD, MS Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.

· PMP certification preferred.

· P.Eng. with APEGA eligibility is an asset.
