Full job description

We are seeking a patient, caring, and engaging teacher to work one-on-one with our child in our home. The student has been attending public school and has just finished grade 3. She has a developmental delay, and the busyness of a typical classroom setting and increasing academic workload has become unsustainable for her. We are looking to hire a private teacher for her to teach fundamentals in core subjects, while she will also attend classes and activities in the community to assist her growth, learning, and social skills with other children her age.

About the role:

  • Subjects to be taught would include literacy, numeracy, science and social studies. We will purchase any curricula and materials needed (with consultation from the teacher selected).
  • Located in a private home in the Carvel/ Jackfish Lake area (about 15 minutes west of Stony Plain). There will be a dedicated classroom space set up.
  • Time required would be approximately 15 – 20 hours per week. Preferred timing would be later morning to early afternoon, 4-5 days a week.
  • Start date would be late August or early September, and schedule would roughly follow the public-school calendar (can be fairly flexible).

What we offer:

  • Consistent and reliable hours
  • Flexible scheduling
  • Supportive and respectful family environment
  • All supplies and resources provided
  • Opportunity to make a meaningful impact through individualized learning for a child with complex learning needs.

Qualifications

  • While our preference would be for a teacher with a bachelors degree in education, individuals with other qualifications and relevant experience will be considered, including certified teachers, retired teachers, education students, experienced tutors, or individuals with relevant experience working with children, especially children with complex learning needs.
  • Someone patient, dependable, encouraging, and able to adapt to our child's learning style. Patience is an absolute must.

If interested, please send:

  • A brief introduction
  • Relevant experience and qualifications
  • Availability
  • Expected hourly rate
  • References (if available)

We look forward to finding someone who will be a great fit and become an important part of our child's learning journey.

Pay: $40.00-$60.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Flexible schedule
  • On-site parking

Work Location: In person
