Position: Director of Operations – Manufacturing & Visual Production
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Location: Greater Toronto Area, Ontario

Position Overview

Infinite Outsourcing Solutions (IOS) is seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Director of Operations for a senior leadership opportunity within a fast-paced manufacturing and visual production environment.

The Director of Operations will provide overall leadership across production, project management, procurement, quality assurance, installation and field operations, inventory, logistics, and continuous improvement. The position has significant responsibility for operational performance, profitability, capacity planning, quality, safety, and customer satisfaction.

The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of senior operations leadership, manufacturing expertise, financial acumen, and hands-on knowledge of large-format printing, signage, visual communications, commercial print, or custom fabrication environments.

Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership & Strategy

  • Develop and execute operational strategies aligned with organizational growth, profitability, quality, and customer-service objectives.
  • Provide leadership across production, finishing, project management, procurement, logistics, installation, customer service, and facilities.
  • Lead and develop departmental managers and establish clear goals, KPIs, performance standards, and accountability measures.
  • Oversee day-to-day operational decision-making and ensure effective communication of performance, risks, challenges, and opportunities to executive leadership.
  • Assess staffing requirements, workflow improvements, capital expenditures, equipment requirements, and other operational investments.
  • Drive collaboration across departments and resolve operational issues that may impact production, project delivery, or customer satisfaction.
  • Build a culture focused on safety, quality, accountability, operational excellence, and continuous improvement.

Production & Manufacturing Management

  • Provide leadership over large-format and specialized production operations, including:
  • UV flatbed printing
  • Roll-to-roll printing
  • Dye-sublimation printing
  • CNC routing and cutting
  • Laminating and finishing
  • Fabrication and assembly
  • Optimize production scheduling and utilization of equipment, labour, materials, and facility capacity.
  • Monitor production capacity, throughput, bottlenecks, and resource requirements.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing, process improvement, and workflow optimization initiatives to increase productivity and profitability.

Project, Installation & Field Operations

  • Ensure effective execution of customer projects from order intake through production, installation, and final completion.
  • Coordinate production schedules with project management, account management, logistics, and installation teams.
  • Oversee installation planning, subcontractor management, site logistics, and field execution.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, to specification, and according to established quality standards.

Financial & Performance Management

  • Develop and manage operational budgets, labour plans, forecasts, and departmental KPIs.
  • Monitor production costs, gross margins, labour utilization, overtime, material waste, and overall operational profitability.
  • Identify cost-saving, productivity, and capacity improvement opportunities.
  • Analyze operational performance and provide recommendations and reporting to senior leadership.
  • Support forecasting and capital planning based on production demand and growth requirements.

Supply Chain, Procurement & Inventory

  • Oversee procurement, inventory management, vendor relationships, and supply-chain performance.
  • Negotiate pricing and service arrangements with suppliers, subcontractors, and material vendors.
  • Ensure appropriate availability of substrates, inks, hardware, and installation materials while controlling inventory levels.
  • Evaluate supplier performance and proactively manage supply-chain risks.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement

  • Establish and maintain quality-control standards throughout production and installation operations.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and operational best practices.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, quality, safety, waste reduction, and customer satisfaction.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective/preventive action processes for operational and quality issues.

People Leadership & Development

  • Recruit, mentor, coach, and develop high-performing operational leaders and production teams.
  • Establish performance expectations and conduct regular performance reviews.
  • Develop succession plans and strengthen leadership capabilities throughout the operation.
  • Promote employee engagement, accountability, collaboration, and professional development.
  • Build strong working relationships across Sales, Finance, Marketing, Customer Service, Project Management, and other business functions.

Health & Safety

  • Ensure compliance with applicable occupational health and safety requirements and company policies.
  • Maintain a safe working environment across production facilities, warehouses, installation sites, and field operations.
  • Champion safety training, audits, hazard identification, incident prevention, and corrective-action initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • 8–10+ years of progressive operations leadership experience.
  • Minimum 5+ years in a senior management position overseeing manufacturing, production, or operational teams.
  • Demonstrated experience within one or more of the following environments:
  • Large-format printing
  • Signage and visual communications
  • Commercial printing
  • Display and exhibit manufacturing
  • Architectural graphics
  • Custom fabrication
  • Strong understanding of large-format printing technologies, production workflows, and finishing processes.
  • Knowledge of production materials and substrates such as ACM, acrylic, Sintra/PVC, foam board, fabric, aluminum, and specialty materials.
  • Experience with installation logistics, project management, field operations, estimating, production costing, and manufacturing economics.
  • Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams in a high-volume, deadline-driven production environment.
  • Strong strategic planning, organizational, decision-making, and conflict-resolution capabilities.
  • Demonstrated success implementing operational transformation and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing operational budgets and profitability.
  • Advanced knowledge of operational KPIs, forecasting, capacity planning, and performance reporting.
  • Experience working with ERP, MIS, CRM, and production management systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and business reporting tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, PMP, or related operational/continuous-improvement certification.
  • Experience managing multi-site operations.
  • Experience scaling manufacturing or production operations within a high-growth organization.

What We Are Looking For

IOS is looking for a senior operations leader who can operate at both the strategic and execution levels. The successful candidate should be comfortable leading managers, analyzing operational and financial performance, improving manufacturing processes, managing complex customer projects, and making decisions in a fast-moving production environment.

This opportunity is particularly well suited to candidates with leadership experience in large-format printing, signage, visual communications, commercial print, display manufacturing, architectural graphics, or custom fabrication.
