**Location: Any KOBE office (Thunder Bay, Balmertown, Sioux Lookout, or Dryden)

KiHS delivers quality secondary programming to First Nations students on reserve by blending face-to-face mentoring with cutting edge online asynchronous instruction. The successful candidate will oversee the program, including the online learning environment and the face-to-face classrooms in 15 communities.

Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of best practices in online education
  • OCT qualified
  • Master’s Degree, or equivalent
  • Principal Qualifications Part 1 and 2, is considered an asset
  • Experience working with First Nation communities and schools
  • Experience working in school administration
  • Several years of experience teaching in the online environment, and experience in administration in an online environment, is considered an asset
  • Familiarity with Ministry of Education documents (e.g., Growing Success)
  • Knowledge of learning management systems, preferable Moodle, is considered an asset
  • Strong technology skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan staff professional development, including NTIP
  • Train and support new staff members, including the use of our online learning management system and online training program
  • Maintain teacher and student handbook
  • Monitor online course quality to meet Ministry of Education standards (e.g., reviewing course outlines, expectation charts, online lessons)
  • Prepare materials for school inspection
  • Travel to communities and meetings regularly, sometimes with short notice
  • Participate in IPRC meetings
  • Help plan and execute the school improvement plan
  • Participate in leading regular staff meetings
  • Collaborate and communicate with teachers, Education Director, KOBE Board members, students and communities
  • Maintain partnerships with communities and promote new partnerships, including credit-for-purchase agreements
  • Assist in completing proposals and reports
