The successful candidate will combine strong regional interpretation and opportunity-generation skills with practical experience in well planning, drilling execution, and multidisciplinary collaboration.
Key Responsibilities

- Integrate geological, geophysical, petrophysical, engineering, land, production, and economic data to evaluate reservoir potential.
- Assess geological risk, uncertainty, resource potential, commerciality, and expected value.
- Build and maintain a risked inventory of exploration and development opportunities.
- Work with Land and Commercial teams to support acreage strategy, acquisitions, dispositions, farm-ins, and technical due diligence.
- Monitor competitor activity, land transactions, industry results, and emerging play trends.
- Collaborate with reservoir, production, drilling, completions, operations, and facilities teams on well planning, opportunity ranking, forecasting, budgeting, and AFE preparation.
- Provide technical direction to Operations Geologists during drilling programs and lead post-well evaluations.
- Maintain high-quality geological data, interpretations, mapping, and technical workflows.
- Present technical interpretations, risks, and recommendations clearly to multidisciplinary teams and leadership.
- Participate in peer reviews, technical knowledge sharing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications

- Strong regional interpretation, subsurface mapping, reservoir characterization, geological risking, and volumetric assessment skills.
- Experience integrating geological, geophysical, engineering, land, production, and economic information.
- Strong communication, project management, and multidisciplinary collaboration skills.
- Experience with heavy-oil, conventional, or thermal reservoirs is an asset.
- Exposure to open-hole multilateral planning and drilling is an asset.
