We are seeking a driven, detail-oriented Project Controls Specialist to support our industrial construction projects with scheduling, cost control, and project tracking. Reporting to the Planning & Project Controls Manager, this role plays a critical part in keeping our projects on time, on budget, and aligned with strategic objectives through diligent data analysis, system upkeep, and reporting. A full-time position based out of our Alberta operations office in Sherwood Park, AB, it offers the chance to contribute to impactful projects and grow your career with a dynamic team.


Key Responsibilities

Scheduling & Planning

  • Support development and maintenance of project schedules using Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent tools.
  • Participate in regular project meetings to provide performance metrics and analytics support.

Cost Control & Forecasting

  • Monitor project costs, resource allocation, and progress to assist with forecasting and earned value reporting.
  • Assist in identifying risks and deviations from plan, and help formulate corrective action plans.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare and maintain project control reports including progress tracking, change orders, cost variance analysis, and schedule performance.
  • Maintain project controls databases and dashboards with accurate, real-time information.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and support documentation audits.

Collaboration

  • Work collaboratively with construction teams, estimators, procurement, and finance to validate project performance.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of project controls experience in industrial construction or EPC environments.
  • Proficiency in scheduling and reporting software (Primavera P6, MS Excel, Power BI, or equivalent).
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and report data clearly.
  • Effective communication skills for liaising across departments and with external stakeholders.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work under tight deadlines with shifting priorities.
  • Knowledge of earned value management and forecasting methods is considered an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Full-time permanent position – standard 40-hour work week, with flexibility for extended hours to meet deadlines.
  • Office-based in Sherwood Park, AB, with occasional travel to job sites across Western Canada as required.
  • Must adhere to DCM’s safety protocols and site-specific HSE requirements.
