Full job description

Nuclear and power generation facilities are complex, interdependent systems. Keeping them running safely and reliably requires engineers who take ownership of assigned systems — who monitor performance, investigate anomalies, drive maintenance strategies, and see modifications through from identification to implementation. The organizations running Ontario's nuclear and hydro fleet rely on systems engineers and plant engineers as a core technical function, and the demand for qualified professionals in these roles is steady and ongoing.

Raise is building a pipeline of Systems Engineers and Plant Engineers for contract opportunities with a leading enterprise organization in Ontario's energy sector. This is not a live posting for a single role. Apply once, and we will reach out when a role matches your discipline and experience.

About the Opportunity

These roles exist across nuclear generating stations, hydroelectric facilities, and new-build programs. At nuclear sites, systems engineers are accountable for the health, reliability, and regulatory compliance of specific plant systems — from primary heat transport to electrical distribution to auxiliary systems. At hydro stations, plant engineers provide technical oversight of generating equipment, conduct condition assessments, and support maintenance and capital programs. Across both, the work is hands-on, technically rigorous, and consequential.

What You Could Be Working On

  • Serving as the technical owner for assigned plant systems, monitoring performance and reliability
  • Investigating equipment failures, abnormal conditions, and operational events
  • Leading or supporting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions
  • Developing and reviewing maintenance strategies, procedures, and work packages
  • Identifying and supporting system modifications, upgrades, and improvements
  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, license conditions, and internal procedures
  • Preparing system health reports, technical assessments, and engineering documentation
  • Supporting commissioning, testing, and return-to-service activities

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Nuclear, or related Engineering discipline
  • 3 to 10+ years of experience in systems engineering, plant engineering, or operations support in power generation or industrial environments
  • Experience in nuclear or regulated utility environments is a strong asset
  • P.Eng. designation or eligibility preferred
  • Familiarity with root cause analysis methodologies, CMMS systems, and asset management practices

Why Apply Now

Systems and plant engineering roles open regularly as programs grow and existing staff transition. Having your profile in our pipeline means we can match you to the right site, the right system area, and the right program scope without delay.

Experience in nuclear, CANDU facilities, hydroelectric, thermal, or other regulated power generation environments is a strong asset. Candidates with OPG system engineer or plant engineer qualifications, or with existing nuclear security clearance, are especially encouraged to apply.

Location:
Pickering, Darlington, Tiverton, Thunder Bay, Niagara, and other Ontario locations — primarily onsite with some hybrid depending on assignment

Contract Length: Typically 12 to 24 months, with strong likelihood of extension
